@AirForce687 In brief, you don't want to live in the dystopian world in which the government decides who marries who
AirForce687 · 36-40, M
@Elessar why not, it would cut down on a lot of relationship drama i think.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@AirForce687 Read or watch the Handmaid's tale
Fairydust · F
Most end up divorced, they don’t really encourage marriages to last in the forces.
I was married to an Air Force man.

Get out there and find someone yourself you lazy git, I had to. Let's face it when they find out how much your pension is worth half the country falls in love with you.

God my gov issued spouse would probably be named...Francis or something awful like that...Victor *shudders*

@Longpatrol you're gonna be moaning that name for the rest of your life
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@Nanori I demand you change your name!

Feel like I am missing some context here.
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@AirForce687 Most people I know in the service when they are smiling it is talking about shit they got away with that should have got them tossed out. lol
AirForce687 · 36-40, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow One thing that did improve in the RAF during my time in Service was their attitude towards disability. Take my own case as an example: i joined at 17 as the only Reserve member with a disability in the entire Number One (Wales) Wing. By the time I was medically retired close to ten years later, there were six members with disabilities serving just on my Squadron alone, including not only the Squadron Warrant Officer but also the Commanding Officer's own son and daughter... in fact it became Wing policy to send all the disabled members to squadrons in the same area to make the paperwork easier...
PicturesOfABetterTomorrow · 41-45, M
@AirForce687 Cool. I was never able to get in because my disability was basically a fail on the medical. I have heard rumblings that is changing because they keep people injured in battle but not people who are less disabled because they were born a certain way. That seems to be slowly changing but I a 40 now and not a young guy who thinks they are indestructible.

Heard that refrain while I was in the USAF too.
AirForce687 · 36-40, M
@soar2newhighs My Squadron Commander wasn't even a full time active duty officer, he was Air Force Reserve and in civilian life he was a social worker...
@AirForce687 He seemed to hate same squadron relationships but condoned others. Not unusual for some people with power and rank. . Hopefully he never tried to force that.
AirForce687 · 36-40, M
@soar2newhighs he was not very high in rank, only the equivalent of a USAF Captain
DrSunnyTheSkeptic · 26-30, M
That sounds cool, the M1A1 Standard issue spouse, comes in brunette, blond, ginger and three different weight categories.
smiler2012 · 56-60
{airforce687] sorry what difference does it make if you on active service whether you and single or not
Dan193 · 31-35, M
The gotta make that compatibilty based
AirForce687 · 36-40, M
@Dan193 i'm sure the Air Force has computer experts who could design a program to do that.
That's one f*cked up fetish.

Lol some weird ideas

I'm not sure it's a good idea for anyone in the military to have a spouse or kids
Consider these things after surviving a military career, it's unfair to the spouse or kids to potentially have their spouse/parent killed, as well to have to constantly move around and lose friends
