Unpopular Opinion: If the Military (in my case the Air Force) had wanted me to be married they could have just issued me with a partner...

A Government-chosen Husband or Wife, his or her name chosen randomly by computer from a list of vetted candidates...

Feel like I am missing some context here.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it's an old inside joke based on the fact that if the military wanted their members to be married they would have issued you with a husband or wife just like they issue you with everything else needed for a military career...
@AirForce687 RCAF base brat here so I was wondering if it was that or some truly bizarre new policy from MOD.

More years ago there were alot of failed marriages on base because mostly guys would marry any random girl just to get out of barracks and into a PMQ aka base housing.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow It's the same thing when i ask many of my ex military friends why i barely ever see them smile in public. They always parrot the same answer: "If the military wanted smiling warriors, they would have issued us with the ability to smile."
@AirForce687 Most people I know in the service when they are smiling it is talking about shit they got away with that should have got them tossed out. lol

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow One thing that did improve in the RAF during my time in Service was their attitude towards disability. Take my own case as an example: i joined at 17 as the only Reserve member with a disability in the entire Number One (Wales) Wing. By the time I was medically retired close to ten years later, there were six members with disabilities serving just on my Squadron alone, including not only the Squadron Warrant Officer but also the Commanding Officer's own son and daughter... in fact it became Wing policy to send all the disabled members to squadrons in the same area to make the paperwork easier...
@AirForce687 Cool. I was never able to get in because my disability was basically a fail on the medical. I have heard rumblings that is changing because they keep people injured in battle but not people who are less disabled because they were born a certain way. That seems to be slowly changing but I a 40 now and not a young guy who thinks they are indestructible.
