Do you feed the birds in your neighborhood ?? If so, what kind of food do you put out for them ??

Mine seem to love sunflower seeds.

I do and get a lot out of it. It's awesome having a little bird family and seeing different species come through when they're migrating. I go with wild bird seed and crushed up peanuts. Finally learned that the best way to keep the woodpeckers and flickers off my house drilling holes was to crush the peanuts so they have to eat them when they see them instead of storing them. It works. It took a while, because they used to fight, but now I have usually five or six species, along with gray squirrels, chipmunks and occasional rabbits, all eating breakfast together in peace. It's fun.

@meggie That's all you need. Create your own little ecosystem and here they come. :)

@starmitzy Yeah. I got lucky. It's definitely beautiful. I'll never live anywhere other than the mountains from here on out. :) I came from a city of 3.5M at 50 ft. of elevation to a secluded village at 7K with 350 super kind people. Easy call. 👍
@Ynotisay lucky you!! ✨

Mixed wild bird seeds in a container that hangs from the tree. The robins though are very spoilt and get meal worms, crushed nuts, suet pellets, grated cheese and their favourite....cake! If I give them a few things at once, the cake goes firsr.

I have suet blocks I’ve been hanging outside but I think the squirrels was eating most of them. I put a hot red pepper suet block out there and it’s still hanging there uneaten. Birds don’t mind the heat but squirrels will leave it alone.

At my little feeder I just use the grocery store stuff, and get cardinals, blue jays, scrub jays, doves, red-bellied woodpeckers, grackles, and about a zillion LBJ's

Yep we put out birdseed. Forget what all it has in it but I know sunflower seeds are included. We have quite the crew now!

I used to be really into it. I had a feeder I would fill with wild bird seed mixed with sunflower seed for the majority of the birds. The feeder had suet holders on both sides, and the suet attracted wood peckers in the winter. I had a small thistle seed feeder hanging at some distance from there, and that attracted goldfinches.

I used to buy cracked corn because I had a flock of wild turkeys in my back yard...but that was a really bad idea. DON'T feed the turkeys...🤣🤣🤣

I used to hang orange halves from another tree but only saw ONE Baltimore oriole in ten years.
Yes. Peanuts in the shell, twelve grain bread, muffins and bird seed.
They're crows, jays and sparrows.
