There’s a Mockingbird In This Neighborhood Who Is Being a Jerk…

@RupertCornelius There have been summers in this neighborhood that they have worn the cats out by harassing them. A few years and a few summers in a row there were a lot more mockingbirds here. They would return in spring and they had enough males to sit on the roofs of every house here, some had one on the back of the room and others on the front of the roofs. They were watching for cats, dogs and squirrels to chase out of the neighborhood. I went somewhere with the boy one afternoon and we were driving back home and saw a poor old ragged-looking cat in a frazzle trying to dodge a mockingbird from dive-bombing down it….looked exhausted by it all. Have seen cats many times running across the street trying to avoid the mockingbirds and running up under landscaping bush’s to hide.

The birds learned real quick that my cats are predators and are happy to receive delivery of food on the wing. 😵😼

@TexChik He hasn’t done it at night yet. I had one mockingbird that would get in the neighbor’s tree next to my bedroom and start singing after midnight at least once a night.
