To think God would create a world where nothing bad happens is the most naive way to think

I am sure God could have created a life with only good. It would be like always winning. Then what meaning does winning really have. And even consider that in tragedy often great things come out of it. Not that I am saying it's good. But there is more to think about in this area
Beautiful!! And yes, we would never learn a thing if everything was perfect all the time.

@Emosaur She doesn't know but I know

That's because I could not discharge my whole in your mom. Your mom fainted and I pulled out. That's why you are born defective.

@Emosaur How does the Shit cake taste like?
Traingut · 41-45, M
@Emosaur I have lost your mom's phone number. Can I have that again? I need to see your birth timing and all or whether you were born normal at that time.

In case you have, do share.

Wow this is great.
The bad is what man has done and created. He is and has created his own demise. But people blame it on God. What God created was good, man is corrupt.

@SW-User Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

As a non-theist, non-dualist Buddhist, I agree with the OP in my own way.

That there is something rather than nothing speaks to me of ultimate meaning, purpose, significance. Rather than an ultimately meaningless virtually random swirling of atoms - or whatever the latest smallest particle is. Where the only meaning is the projection of it onto a meaningless external reality by a consciousness that is alone in the Cosmos, yet one that thrives on finding meaning.

Meaning is inherent to Reality.

Very much from all my own explorations support this.

@SW-User I agree

God did create a world where nothing bad happened.. But He also made a world where people could bring about a world where bad things would happen.. Human beings decided to follow the path that ended up in them experiencing suffering.. And so it goes until God brings about the redemption of His create and restores all things to perfection..

@Adstar They were mythical.

We shall have to disagree.
Adstar · 56-60, M
@SW-User Nope they where Actual human beings.. And yes of course we disagree..

@Adstar Where do the cro-manons and neanderthals fit into your picture of reality?
val70 · 51-55
Sure, and if you think further to what some nowadays label "good" to be then you'll end up in a hell of man's making too. I mean, God created the world but I do hope that it will never end up. to be to our own norms and tastes of the day

In order for humans to perceive the true meaning of good, there must be the opposite of good.

After the fall, God placed us in THIS world, where we were no longer protected or shielded from all harm.

THIS is a world of vicious predators, and only by being tough and canny will we survive it, OR, conversely, by camouflaging ourselves well. IF we are good at surviving, we have the peace and safety required to contemplate spiritual matters.

Those who survive evil in this world will often grow to greater heights spiritually, and the light within them will become much brighter.
that would be boring.
so he gave us free will instead..
why you asking me for. im not God.. (well thats debatable 😇)
its not my grand plan.

we play the cards were dealt..

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout If he gave us free will (as a gift) why did he punish Adam and Steve for eating the apple? Surely an all knowing,all seing God saw that shit coming a mile a way, so why not just punish us from the beginning for being unwanted children? Seems like toxic abusive parenting. He could have just locked us up in an attic and hid us from his other God buddies

Or that the world was already here and people invented God and the creation narrative trying to explain how it came to be.

Think about that.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@RedBaron believe in a Creator God. Nothing like what you describe. You make no sense at all. 🤣🤣
RedBaron · M
@Axeroberts I make more sense than you, not even close.

You aren’t even willing to consider the logical possibility that everything was created by evolution and the concept of a God/creator was invented later. It makes more sense than any religious dogma.

No laughing emojis needed for emphasis.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@RedBaron logically the odds are in overwhelming numbers that this has been deliberately created. Microbiology proves that beyond any reason of a doubt.

The Abrahamic God is a douche if he was real.
Think about it. Humans were immortal but expected to remain dolts eternally by not eating from the fruit of knowledge. Yahweh literally lied when he told them it would kill them. So they ate the fruit, don't, well dang, suddenly Yahweh feels threatened, because if they have eternal life they'll be just as powerful as him. So he makes them mortal and casts them out to fend for themselves.

I dare you to say that to God's face because one day you will meet him and you'll have to explain yourself. And even if you don't like him or hate him, you could at least show the poster some respect instead of this type of immature childish verbiage.

@Axeroberts Over 95% of the species that ever existed have gone extinct and we’re only an asteroid away from the same.

A naive way to think often espoused by very cynical people

Tell that to the families of babies with cancer.
@BritishFailedAesthetic I didn't say that. I said it's fucked up that it happens, and if there's a God responsible, he's a piece of shit.
@LordShadowfire Bit there are Christians who go through this and still have faith is my point.

People always mention poverty in Africa, etc yet Africa has much more of a Christian faith than the states.
@BritishFailedAesthetic I don't understand how anybody can have faith in a benevolent creator when diseases like fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva exist. (Google that. I won't share pictures of it here. It's horrifying, and the creator of that disease should be ashamed of itself.)
