A global workers movement, an international language, the rise of a worldwide democratic superstate, and the end of religion.
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
@BlueVeins Several great ideas. I believe an international language will prevail in a few hundred years. So many dialects are disappearing! Yet a major reworking of religion is what I believe to be most essential.
I don't think anything can unite humans. Even if the moon was falling there would be people trying to scam and hurt people to the very last second.
I think that is why I like superhero and disaster movies so much. Because most of the time they show the world UNITING instead of what is most likely to happen which is just coming apart instead.
Covid showed me that there will be people that will side even with a disease against their own species. I def don't want to see that in my entertainment:(

@canusernamebemyusername Some good points! Yet it has been said that nature holds better surprises. I forget the right saying for this.
@MissPerfect As a part time pantheist I agree with that. lol

Nothing could unite the world. Our values are so diverse. It can’t be. We can’t even unite our own country.
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
@Carissimi You're right to think that we'll always find reasons to disagree with each other, but a common afterlife belief would be an excellent start.
Carissimi · F
No one would agree on an afterlife. @MissPerfect
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
@Carissimi That claim depends on whether or not many people are innately predisposed to irrational thought. I know reasonableness and desirability can coexist in an optimal state of balance. Education of the young is the key.

How does aliens explain an afterlife?
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
@Convivial Luckily there's more to the explanation.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@MissPerfect I'm sure there is lol

@MissPerfect A tangential piece of trivia: Pythagoras and others believed that the souls of the dead travelled to the moon. (I am guessing this came from looking at the moon on the horizon across the water, which is presumably how the dead would travel there.) Today, there IS a crater on the moon named Pythagoras, so HE made it there at least!

That or another gobal event like the world going past the brink of climate change
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
@FunLovingGuy1590 Yes, but I think self-interest is more compelling.

@jshm2 Lots of things unite all of mankind. The love of freedom, love of food, love of a good story. Although younger I might have learned more than you.
BlueSkyKing · M
I’d rather know than believe. Zero evidence for any sort of afterlife. This one is the only one you get.
MissPerfect · 22-25, F
@BlueSkyKing Atheists of lesser education and insight will no doubt agree with you. And who can blame them! Just look at how badly explanations rooted in magic are formed.

@MissPerfect I have no doubt that complex life exists throughout the universe. The same stars planets, moons, and elements exist everywhere. If it happened once (here), it can happen again. We’ll probably never know.
