John 13:34 seems to get lost in the shuffle with some around here.
Lichocolati · 31-35, F
@LordShadowfire You do know that Jesus is God right. Whatever was said in the Old Testament is still valid in the New. In the Old Testament God tells us not to kill and in the New he tells us to love each other. Jesus didn't come to change the law but to fulfill it
In the Old Testament he said that there should not be same sex relations and that still stands.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@Lichocolati So, you've got absolutely nothing. As I suspected.
Lichocolati · 31-35, F
@LordShadowfire If you read Genesis 19 you'll see that God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because it was filled with sin. If God was okay with same sex relationships why did everyone there die except for Lot and his family. There are many scriptures in the Old Testament where God is telling Israel against these acts.

But then again if you want to go whatever you want to do you'll overlook everything so what's the point.

Adstar · 56-60, M
Do you have an example of one of those phony rules ?
@Penny The choice of whether we want to go to heaven or not is strictly up to us. God doesn't make that choice for us.
@Penny
i dont personally think Jesus came to save us from being condemned to hell because of breaking the laws that Moses gave. not saying there's no such thing as personal or otherwise sin. Jesus came to guide us and apparently not into worshipping the bible or our possibly flawed interpretations of it.

Then Jesus went to the cross and suffered an agonizing death for what, if you don't believe He came to save us from hell? John 3:16 Says just the opposite ...that He came to save the world so no one would perish. We can't twist that around and Jesus didn't leave us to guess how to get to heaven. Man doesn't get to set that standard. Only God did. We either believe the Bible or we don't but it is God's Own Word that He set forth, for all of us.

Saved or not, we all sin in some way, everyday. So tell me what you think is the difference between if a Christian sins, or someone who doesn't believe, and they sin. If we sin every day, as mentioned, why wouldn't that mean everybody's going to hell? Because....Our performance has absolutely nothing to do with salvation. Nothing. As we cannot work nor earn our way to heaven by good deeds. That is NOT the standard for salvation that God set. But man wants to switch that around, and that will definitely get no one to heaven. If you had cancer, (for example only, God forbid), and a guy down the street was the only one you knew that had the cure for your cancer, that would save your life, whose fault would it be if you rejected his offer to save you? That would be your responsibility to accept and receive his offer of healing and life, and he couldn't force it on you. That would not be his fault, if you rejected the gift of life.

Sin is like a cancer, in that it destroys lives. It keeps us separated from Our Father in heaven....UNTIL we ask Jesus, God's Son and our Mediator between God and man, to forgive us of our sins and accept His invitation to receive the free gift of eternal life through Him. We are only saved by faith and the grace of Jesus Christ, which means unearned favor from God. The Bible says so. There's not one thing you can do to earn salvation or save yourself, but you can accept Jesus' free invitation to save you from the condemnation SIN placed on you, and ask Him to forgive your sins and take them all away, which He promises to do, and which brings you right back into the right relationship with God the Father, and you then become a brand new person in Christ, and a part of the family of God, forever. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
@Penny WHATEVER the sin is, sin is still sin. That is, all sin separates us from God the Father until we ask for forgiveness. God does not categorize sin like man does. Because all sin keeps us separated from God. If we ignore so great a Salvation and leave our souls to chance, and do not receive forgiveness from Jesus, that's our fault, because we rejected the very salvation from Jesus that He wanted to give us, so He could save us from the condemnation that sin put on us.

@Insightful1981 you need to continue your research, because your conclusion is waaaayyy off. Maybe need a grip on the truth, to not be easily misled.

Christianity is rooted in Christ. Any who follow Jesus as their Savior, are called Christians. Your statement makes no sense.

That’s true, but it depends on what set of rules you claim as phony. It’s true you are not saved by works, but what you do does matter, has impacts, and the Lord gives plenty of guidance.
The Lord loves everyone, but he does set rules for behavior.

The idea of Christ has lost credibility. The evangelicals and silence from other churches have played that philosophy into a hateful, bigoted conservative scam.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Crazywaterspring Hardly. What we're seeing now is just as prophesied, sin becoming more prevalent and people turning away from God. I see all the hate for God around here from some. God will never lose credibility. But Society shall certainly grow worse in their sins.

People who are able to FEEL that love in their hearts are happier and better able to cope with this world than those who can not.
Lichocolati · 31-35, F
@4meAndyou I never knew what love was till I experienced God's love. It's just amazing 😊

@Lichocolati 🤗🤗🤗 You are so right!
I suspect for many, there is no greater heresy than asserting Jesus is love.

Phoney rules? And yet there's a picture of Jesus, doesn't look like he's spent much time in the sun.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@GeniUs A dark-skinned man who advocated feeding the hungry and housing the homeless? How the hell did this guy gain a foothold in the Republican party?
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@LordShadowfire Good question I believe the answer is that he is no more in The Republican party than Attila the Hun or Adolph Hitler (I'm not sure that's the best analogy) or Al Gore.
@GeniUs
And yet there's a picture of Jesus, doesn't look like he's spent much time in the sun.

What has that got to do with anything? No one has seen the face of Jesus except those who lived amongst him when he was here. Being from Jewish descent, I'm sure his skin was according to those who lived in that time period, darker than caucasian people.
Allelse · 36-40, M
Love me or I'll burn you forever? That's just extortion.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace It's extortion, just like the mafia.
@Allelse It seems like extortion to you because you don't understand it. Your understanding is contrary to the Word of God.
Allelse · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace So you believe the mafia is protecting your business?
Penny · 46-50, F
if i remember correctly i think someone on this site made this meme
Isnt the 10 commandments a list of rules
Adstar · 56-60, M
I'm inclined to agree, (who wouldn't be?) but we might not agree on what qualifies as "phony rules"
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
That sounds and looks very creepy lol
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
Uh huh. Unless I don't blindly worship him.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@Glassysky I'm good, thanks.
Glassysky · 22-25, M
@LordShadowfire How come youre almost 50 and single? And on a site like this?
Clearly, you're on the wrong path son, you need Jesus in your life.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@Glassysky How come God made me this way if he didn't want me to be this way?
