Looking back at photos of myself when I was younger, I looked a lot better than I realized!

No. I used to get told my smile was amazing when I worked in retail in the 1980's. Then in my first relationship I sometimes used to get told I had a cute bum. Then just recently someone actually commented (reply on a dating site) that they like men with beards. So that was 20+ years with no body-positivity input and lots of negative self-image about sex/dating/intimacy and sexual self-esteem/worth. It's very hard to feel self-confident when you don't feel good about yourself and your place in the world.
