Turtles live exceptionally long lives—often spanning over a century—due to their slow metabolism, which limits cellular wear and tear. Their hardened shells provide natural, impenetrable armor against predators, while unique genetic traits allow for superior DNA repair

Our local turtles are having a hard time. The lay their eggs, cover them up, and then a raccoon or other animal digs them up and eats them.

They eat tomatoes and strawberries too, little thieves. The bad thing is they’ll take one bite out of a tomato and then go to a different plant, take a bite out of another tomato and keep doing it over and over.
