@beermeplease The mockingbird I heard last year sounded just like a baby kitten

Get them spayed

@Matt85 Try catching them. I caught 3 of the gentler younger females after many attempts and took them to the city shelter to be spayed about a year and a half ago. They didn’t take the last one because they were full up. It’s not easy catching a feral cat. The ones having babies won’t get in the trap even if they are hungry. The two they took must have gotten adopted out because they didn’t come back here to release them

There are still birds with all these feral cats about?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Thevy29 yes but it’s getting less common to see snakes in the yard, those little striped grass snakes. I saw one dead one last year that had been mangled in the back yard near the house. I believe one of the ferals did it. We had a lot of sparrows that used to hang out in the trees next to my yard and a cat got one and I saw her with a feather on her face & on her paw…the sparrows were throwing a fit. Don’t see many of them now, they stay away from the cats.

If you can look you up your local animal rescue group they will have trappers that TNR the adults and kittens. The kittens can be fostered and adopted out. But step one is find your local cat rescue and talk to them.

@robertsnj One of them is being investigated for their facilities and that means no new intakes and the others will have more animals.

@cherokeepatti I think you are confusing a rescue group with a shelter. the rescue works with the local pound but is instead a lose group of volunteers who work out of their home.

if it is an adult cat they trap neuter release (TNR ) and put it back in your area fixed. If it is a kitten same thing but they may find a foster parent ---a resident nea by to adopt the animal for 4-6 weeks and as that person houses, in there personal residence the rescue group will take it to local pet supplies places, like PetSmart and try to adopt it out by putting it on display.

you google cat rescue and your zip code or cat rescue and your county and see who they are.

@robertsnj It doesn’t matter, they are all overflowing as it is. I don’t know any of them that will come out and set a trap. They’ll loan them out maybe, who knows.
