We get these in the Desert Southwest in the U.S. We call them Vinegaroos. Apparently if you
get bit you get sick and everything tastes like Vinegar.

They are super aggressive. They dig holes in hard desert soil.

I've caught loads of these over the years, but I've recently seen a YouTube video saying they might be slightly poisonous - even in the UK.! This might have been clickbait. It's often hard to tell.

But the next one I put outside, I was much more cautious.

@CrazyChick21 Oh, I know some people can be very allergic to bee and wasp venom. It is quite rare but still very serious.

I'm glad your friend recovered.

@CrazyChick21 That's pretty alarming. I guess it was partly an allergic reaction as @ArishMell said.

I've been stung by a couple of wasps/bees (once while climbing up the slope to the Parthenon.)

We were in a French hotel once and a hornet turned up in the dining room. Judging from the reaction of everyone there, these things clearly are quite dangerous - much more so than UK beasties.
