Wasps are buttholes, but one might've just saved my life.

sitting outside at work, smoking a cigarette. A wasp was buzzing around me and wouldn't leave me alone, so I slowly got up to try and get away from it. I looked down where I was sitting and there was a spider right next to where I was. Not a big deal, I'm not the type to freak out about a spider, until I noticed it was a black widow.

thanks wasp.

Though the potency of black widow venom is 10-15 times that of a rattlesnake, their fangs are too small to inject enough to truly cause severe symptoms in humans unless there are underlying health conditions.

@Sapio em, I don't know where you found that but what you wrote if ores what I saw closer nicely. The reaction from a bite can look like an acute abdomen, that requires surgery, or even lockjaw!
Sapio · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 I guess everything you learn from biology shows on Discovery isn't always accurate. But what I wrote was what was stated.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Sapio what you see on TV tends to exaggerate the facts.

@Sapio Regardless, one way or the other, I'd rather not risk it.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SarahAndSamantha generally they hide out of sight. The classic bite I saw when I was in school but as one on a dependent part and sustained while in an out house, or when someone reached into a pile of wood.
Sapio · 51-55, M
@SarahAndSamantha Yeah, apparently it's the females you have to watch out for.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Sapio I won't say what I am doing thinking!
Sapio · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 please by all means, speak your mind.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Sapio no way!
Sapio · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 hey you never know. You might know more than the entomologist who spoke on television.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Sapio is that an attempted insult?
Sapio · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 no it wasn't but you'll take it how you want to take it. Do we have a problem here? I'm not one for internet beefs. Face-to-face is the most proper way to discuss differences.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Sapio sorry the way you said that I might know more than a TV entomologist. About clinical medicine I would say I do? I practiced clinical toxicology for almost 50 years. But, I don't need to defend myself. Have a good life!
Sapio · 51-55, M
@samueltyler2 yeah and I recognized that you might have more knowledge than him. That's why I said that. Anything is possible. Have a good life as well.
