I Love Animals and Nature

The saddest thing I've seen in my lifetime is so many animals becoming endangered. From Monarch butterflies to Bengal Tigers, life on Earth disappearing at an alarming rate from a multitude of reasons that mostly boil down to the greed and ignorance of Mankind. There have been estimations that we've lost half of the wildlife on Earth over the past 40 years, I can see it myself in my own backyard. Certain species like Box Turtles and a particular Garden Spider that were common sites when I was a kid are rarely, if ever, seen around here anymore. This is a science fiction concept made real. It's heartbreaking and doesn't bode well for any life on Earth including ourselves.

It is terribly sad how mankind is treating the only home we have.
Personally, and they are only small things as we have no control over the larger species of animal, I try to take care of my garden and make it as much of a sanctuary for local wildlife as I can. I have foxes visit, deer, always a delight to see, and bees and butterflies, so I must be doing something right!

It breaks my heart but I have to agree with your words... what has been happening around us for years is alarming and even worse is that so many have been aware of the problem for decades but far too little has been done to address it in time. The worst parasite on earth is man, he destroys his own world systematically and continuously and that although he knows better. We can experience the extinction of the species in our garden very closely every year... less and less birds visit our natural garden, because they find less and less insects... a few years ago we shared our garden with 6 hedgehogs, now there are only 2, because they also no longer find enough food and leave their home or they simply do not reproduce. It breaks my heart to see how the animals and nature suffer from the selfish behavior of us humans and I feel angry and helpless because I myself can do so little to protect them and reduce their suffering.

Tis' sad , as nature and animals are an important part of my life. I'm at one with both. Here's a song you may appreciate.....[media=https://youtu.be/caIo1UGSDgw]

Yes, it is so tragic that Mankind is so destructive, ultimately of itself although we won't drive ourselves into extinction as some fear we might.
GreyjediM
@ArishMell what makes you think we won鈥檛 drive ourselves to extinction?
ArishMell70-79, M
@Greyjedi Extinction means a complete death of the whole species.

We won't do that, but what we could face is a complete breakdown of any sort of society we would call "civilised" by our modern standards.

That would bring, or result from, and be accompanied by, gigantic loss of life by any of many possible ways, but there will still be many survivors. Those most likely to survive are those living in remote places in what we in our comfy "Western" homes would regard as very "undeveloped" ways.

IDK I mean, we have a part in it like hunting or whatever enjoyment but some do try and help out to prevent extinction. Also it's not always we responsible for the extinction.

I agree, 馃馃挃 it is heart breaking.馃様

Humans have a frontal lobe, which means we have all the facts, we know what can happen in the future, and what we are doing and yet still we carry on destroying this beautiful planet, and all the animals around us, with all the full facts we still carry on our path of destruction
GreyjediM
lots of the people with the most power deny the facts and not enough of us who stand against "authority" and their denial. We also still have the other parts of the brain like the fear producing amigiodula. I'm not making excuses for it I'm saying those are some other facts. As a psychology major I know that unfortunately humans just like other animals tend to take the easiest route in thinking.

@silmarilion456 true but it's not just the US where this is happening...

It may be worst of all for us, because everything else will be dead. That means all organisms that humanity consumed as food in the past will be dead so there will be mass starvation. Water will either be polluted or essentially turned into extra salty soda with water sources having absorbed so much Co2.

I couldn't be more in agreement.. it physically hurts me how little we seem to care about causing species to decline and become endangered. I don't understand how people can fail to see the impact this will also have on us too...
GreyjediM
Yeah it's awful some of the most beautiful and important animals are so endangered.

Hate speech doesn't do any good to find a solution to things, it only further slows change and divides people. Have you ever heard of someone named Colin Beaven? He is a white man who travels around talking about environmental awareness and creating action from a place of acceptance and compassion.
