Has SW become really quiet these day, or have long term members just settled into like minded tribes and become insular. Not a judgement in any way, I am just being curious.
It's the algorithm ....it sets who you see. It limits who you see and when.

It's made the feed very small....and repetitive .

@OogieBoogie Cool there are plenty of Aussies here and I hope there will be plenty more!
@OogieBoogie Im same way i MOVED TO California in the laten 1950es live there till 1984,,,people there love the southern droull i call it, after 30 years i spoke like thay did,,moved to Tennessee now i speak southern some what,,
@OogieBoogie Aussies are one of my favorite people,,,thay are southern but on a different Conant
I got algorithmed to the back of the bus and only see a fraction of whats posted so yeah it looks slow to me. I only see maybe 10 new questions before the posts start repeating.
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@Pitchblue same, not sure it is an algorithm thing, but you could be right.
@Beetlejuice68 I've never collected hundreds of friends. I thought it defeats the purpose. Collect friends to get that number up? That might be the problem. I'm only seeing the conversations my friends list are involved in.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
It has become very quiet. The most active members all bailed or are seldom online anymore because they've got shit happening in their real lives (pregnancies, relationships, struggles, etc).
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@DearAmbellina2113 yes, there are some I really miss that were a lot of fun.
I think there are three or four main clusters of users, and blocking keeps people from seeing much outside their cluster. The right-wing politicals block the left-wing politicals and vice-versa. And then the "I hate politics" & "lets talk sex" crowds blocks both. If you're blocked by a bunch of the main posters in a cluster, you just won't see much that cluster's activity.
@Notladylike Probably by what kinds of posts you mostly see; maybe also by who is in your block list. We have no way of knowing for sure who all has blocked us, but the people who block you are another indicator.
@ElwoodBlues Yeah I really don’t care if people block me. I’m a lot to handle 🤭
@Notladylike I get blocked by a lot of right-wingers, and the feed shows me a lot of left-wing posts. I’m a lot to handle too🤭

...hasn't it always been that?
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@Magenta I have and can understand why some content has turned people away.
Magenta · F
@Beetlejuice68 It truly has, sadly. I block nearly every day now, where I once rarely did. That says a lot.
Lilnonames · F
@Starcrossed i know my reason

It's been on that path a while as near as I can tell. Perhaps the reputation type stuff is condensing many, but there are more than a few announcing their departure (although such announcements are usually worth less than the photons they generate to display)
@Beetlejuice68 yeah, I suppose. I feel like I don't have the energy to wade into controversial things nor the desire to interact with the super banal, so I end up seeing almost nothing here. And any direction I try to lead is either pretty much unseen or no interaction, so I stop bothering with it
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@stound I don’t get people who don’t tolerate small talk initially and expect expansive conversation from the get go as if you already know the person.
@Beetlejuice68 oh, I'm ok with small talk. I just don't care about it being morning or talking about coffee or some such every day.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Liberals wanted censorship and bubbles.
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@MrBrownstone don’t know that is the case, some views and kinks I see posted at time are still pretty out there.
CestManan · 46-50, F
Some people get algorithme'd to the back of the bus like @Pitchblue mentioned.
Once that happens, there isn't much point in participating.

Even if not for that, one can read the same crap only so many times.

Plus I think since musk and zuck are in a race to build more and more useless "platforms", maybe people are drawn to that.

We only get to see a few things so one doesn't have to be here but a minute to see all there is.
Theyve limited the experience
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M

most of the long turm members has gone,,the rules are to strict
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@jackrabbit10 really? People still seem to be able to post most anything still, as long as they label correctly.
@Beetlejuice68 you can post most any thing,,if you have some one that flags you,,over and over ,,that member in in a violation for weeks,,,gets fed up quits
@jackrabbit10 we can post it....but only a section of the user base sees it in a timely manner ...if at all.

Like this post ....iv seen only just now .
But I've been sick and been on SW all yesterday . And I never saw it .
Iwantyourhotwife · 22-25
They probably just made friends and moved on since the place is quiet with a slowly growing userbase
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Maybe people are on summer vacation and are busy in their real lives.
Beetlejuice68 · 51-55, M
@JimboSaturn I understand people get busy and not everyone is in the Northern hemisphere, but it has seemed a lot quieter here for quite some time now. I wonder if the same would have eventually happened to the Experience Project as well, which people appear to have enjoyed more.
