What some things that help sciatic nerve pain..? [I Dont Like Small Talk]

Ouchies🥺
OldBrit · 61-69, M
Exercise only thing works for me. Anti inflammatory drugs or rubs help a bit but you have got to release the muscle trapping the nerve.

Looks up sciatic exercises. I do mine daily in my exercise routine. Mostly the pain stays away although the pins and needles and numbness are permanently there to some degree

@SW-User keep going they took probably 9 months to get mine to the current level and keep it there.
SW-User
@OldBrit I've been going through this for over a year
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@SW-User I've had mine over 5 essentially it may never go of it has been crushed/caught a certain way. But the exercises make it bearable most of the time
I had that once and tried a Yoga stretch called the Simple Twist. I did it oh-so gently, took my time and then felt this pop in my back and this immediate rush of relief. [image]Of course listen to your body if you attempt it. Do not strain.

Strengthen your core muscles, start by doing pelvic tilts and basic crunches
SW-User

Gentle stretching is what my Neurosurgeon recommends. Check with your Dr first. I hope you feel better soon.

It’s horrible when it gets you. You have my sympathy.

Not sure anything really works for me.
I generally have a hot water bottle(although many recommend an ice pack !)
Paracetamol and Codeine tablets every four hours or so; and if you can get up and move around that’s better than laying so I’m told

Like everyone says, stretches, Aspercreme and Biofreeze, heat pack, but also - I never see it anywhere, but if you have stiff neck, simple neck stretching helps relax not only your neck, but whole spine...if you have the time, stretching and relaxing whole body will help more then just isolating...

Stretching of the hips if you can tolerate it

@SW-User The periformis syndrome is a common thing , the muscle impinges on the sciatic nerve . There are places that will stretch you … I had to do that
SW-User
@TexChik I'll keep trying
TexChik · F
@SW-User are you doing it or a professional ?
SW-User
I use a tens machine to manage pain and it works really well (although mine isn’t sciatic)
