I Battle Depression and Anxiety

Can anyone recommend natural supplements that has helped them with anxiety or depression? Thanks.

Well. I don't know if it's natural or not, but it might be. 5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin. Naturally occuring in the brain, I know. It's quite good. Commonly used with MDMA to build up serotonin before a roll, and afterwards, to lighten the depression after burning all your serotonin in one night. Very effective, if you have low serotonin levels.

Can be bought at pretty much any grocery store in the vitamins section.

Haven't used it, but saint john's wort is also an anti-depressant.

Kratom would be quite useful for anxiety and depression, though it is mildly addictive. Empathogenic effects, some euphoria, sedation or stimulation. Shouldn't be taken every day, and it feels pretty good, so be careful not overdoing it. Nothing bad will happen, but you might become dependent. As far as addictions go, it's quite minor. Comparable to coffee, though depending on your personal biology, it could be more addicting than coffee.

It is in the coffee family. But also has opiate-like effects, while not being an opiate. I'll just say. Since I started taking it 4 years ago, to get off morphine--as it has a cross tolerance with opiates, heaven-sent herb for opiate withdrawal--I've had no issues with depression, whatsoever. Or my addictive tendencies. I dare say I would not survive without this herb.

Of course, I recommend doing your own research on all of these. 5-HTP shouldn't be taken more than 90 days in a row. Or with anything else that increases serotonin. Serotonin Syndrome is no fuckin' joke.

St John's wort is a traditional herbal remedy that has been proven beneficial, but you can't take it with a lot of medications for anxiety and depression. Hops strobile and Valerian root are often used as a combination with something else I cant quite remember for anxiety and insomnia. Both these remedies are readily available in tablet form

@AlphaPuppy Thank you. I'll research these supplements.

@WearOutKyd no worries, I've tried the Valerian and hops myself for sleep issues but unfortunately my medication totally overwhelms it with the side effects

Saint John's wort might help. If you live in a state where weed is legal it really helps. Also making sure all you B vitamin needs are met helps. However, this time of year,I find, it is the shorter days and lack of sunlight that makes me depressed. I have Seasonal Affective Disorder and I use a full spectrum light for it.

@SW-User Thanks for the advice. I don't think the shorter days affect me much but I will definitely look into the vitamins.

No, but do push yourself to get some exercise. I survived 15 years of chronic depression. I've been out of it for 10 years. Hang in there man.

@Abstraction Thank you. Yeah I've been pushing myself to exercise. It does make me feel better.

Taking a Motrin once a day calms down the hormones that make you have anxiety and depression.
