What's the healthiest diet?

Trying to eat healthy. What kind of diet is the healthiest? I know Mediterranean diet is good and keto is good. I thought about going Vegan but I don't know how well that would work out.

Sorry I had to break up my comment. Fat is healthy for you by the way, your brain needs fat just like it needs everything else. The key is moderation with the healthy kind of fats.
Saturated fat is a fundamental building block for brain cells. It’s certainly interesting to consider that one of the richest sources of saturated fat in nature is human breast milk.

Similarly, cholesterol is vital for a well functioning brain. Cholesterol functions as a brain protective antioxidant. It is the raw material from which our bodies make vitamin D, a fundamental player in preserving brain function. In addition, cholesterol is the precursor for the sex hormones estrogen, progesterone and testosterone – all of which contribute to healthy brain function. While the brain constitutes about 2-3% of our total body weight, an impressive 25% of the body’s cholesterol is found in the brain. So when the FDA last year began requiring consumer warnings on certain cholesterol lowering medications related to memory decline and other cognitive issues, it wasn’t surprising.
Also try meal prepping.

There's food prepping containers you can get on Amazon. Even if you can't make a whole weeks supply, make about 3 to 4 days worth. Cook like 2 or 3 recipes that you like and double them but focus on really simple ingredients and double batch it.

@SatanBurger Very insightful. Thank you for all of that information.

In my opinion only and I'm certainly not a doctor but no one should go vegan because it's not optimal but if it works for you then great. No shame in experimenting that way at least you know. The problem with veganism for me is that plants have anti nutrients they produce as a defense mechanism when picked. It blocks your body's ability to absorb essential nutrients (not all the way mind you, just some.)

It's been said that you need veggies, grains and starches because they still have good effects in the body including anti nutrients being good for you in smaller quantities but I question when someone eats a large quantity like a vegan would have to let's say.. get more iron because their plant diet would not absorb it as effectively as let's say red meat, poultry, fish.

The Mediterranean diet, paleo, primal or AIP (autoimmune paleo specifically to help people with autoimmune disorders and IBS symptoms as certain foods inflame your body) any of those is good. Those above diets are kind of all variations of each other though with a slight difference in each, so I sometimes just use recipes as more of a guide and choose the easiest things I can find.

I prefer primal though just because 😊

The healthiest diet is the one that you can stick to without feeling deprived and get all of your essential nutrients from.

@SW-User That makes sense.

@justicexoxoxo That probably doesn't help, but you shouldn't stress about it too much. As long as you're healthy, that's what matters.

I just want to find a diet that works for me. I'm not really consistent. I eat healthy, then eat something very unhealthy that unbalances my diet. I gotta find a diet that I can stick to but not feel like I'm depriving myself.

Going vegan can work very well if you don't have a very fast metabolism and make sure to take your supplements. This is just a personal opinion though, I'm no nutritionist.

I'd recommend Mediterranean because apart from healthy, it's really fucking delicious! 🖤

I think it might depend on a person's health issues...people with Type II diabetes can benefit from a strict keto diet for a few months and switch over to a paleo diet afterwards to stabilize blood sugar levels. I've tried both and do better with paleo, root veggies, although starchy have a multitude of health benefits.

Diets are not healthy. If you want to lose weight, then just eat what you know is healthy, and the parts that have a lot of fat or carbs, eat less :) Small meals is key.

@justicexoxoxo Yeah the but is what made it into a disagreeing kind of message.
justicexoxoxo · 26-30, M
Well I apologize if you took it the way, wasn't my intention. Your advice is well noted.
