I Escaped Jehovah's Witness Cult But Healed Slowly After

I've never been in the JWs. But I have heard a lot of bad things about them and right now, I am trying to persuade a close friend not to become involved with them. They got to her right after her husband died and she was lonely.

All I can add is they were making the rounds in our neighborhood one day so I answered the doper naked. They have never been back. There is a sign near the doorbell warning it is a clothing optional household. Maybe they can't read?

I have my own stories too. Same thing happened to my mother. All us siblings caught on and we got her away from them. So it was a bit of a payback too!

@greenmountaingal: They must have passed that I am a nudist to the Mormons too!

Then there was my communist mom...she answered their knock one day while I was visiting her. Here's the dialogue:

"Good Morning, Ma'am. Do you know God?"

"No. Do you?"

"Yes, we do!"

"Good. Then tell God when he feeds all the starving children in the world, we can talk."

Door clicked shut firmly. No return JW visits.

IT IS A CULT!! My cousin is one and even gave them the money to build a center. He is strange. They shun people and are cheap. They won't give presents but gladly accept Christmas bonuses, any money you are willing to give them and not call a gift they will take. If she wants to end her loneliness tell her to take up bocce ball or join arts and crafts or take piano lessons.

@Quietrumble: We are not a cult. 🙄
That's good, he contributed to our organization so that we can continue building our churches I take it?
What exactly do you mean with cheap?
We shun people who actively go against the bible laws, as it is said in the bible
1 Corinthians 5:13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.”
We simply follow the bible scriptures as true christians.
We do not take part in any pagan holidays, that includes birthdays; This is forbidden in the bible, as it's described as unclean.
What exactly do you mean with "any money you are willing to give them and not call a gift they will take"? Do you mean as in a paycheck? because yes we do like getting a paycheck after working, such as any human being here on earth.

What would be so different with them than being a Christian it's al.ost the same

@Letsnotplaytogether9696: No insult intended. But I guess I just don't like that they got to my friend right after her husband of 49 years had died and they "love bombed" her. She is a Christian who is usually very down to earth and sensible. And I admit I am a bit guilty about not visiting her recently (I've been seriously ill and have moved 4 times in a year and a half with no help.) She lives 200 miles away and until recently, I was too sick to drive further than a couple of miles. I am getting ready to go and see her in a few weeks. Still unpacking from my last move.

@greenmountaingal: oh I see

@greenmountaingal: Our organization do not take money from anyone. The only money we get is the one contributed to us through optional donations from our brothers and sisters. We never ask for money for services, the priests are not paid for talking about God's word and all of our literature is completely free of charge. We are not a cult, we do not perform rituals nor do we take part of anything occult as that is strictly forbidden according to the biblical scriptures. We follow the bible strictly and we do not sway away from it's core message. Our interpretations of the biblical scriptures are different than the ones from other christian organizations, and that is nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to different religions. As an example, there are a lot of different denominations within christianity, all of these ones differs more or less from each other. We believe that our interpretations is the correct one. Also, we do not isolate people from their families and friends. How do you even think we'd have the ability to do that? You got to stop believing rumors.

There's absolutely nothing you have to fear.
Your friend is finding the light at the moment for a very good reason, don't attempt to hinder her, but instead try to understand what she finds appealing.

Don't preach to me....please, I didn't even read the reply. Not interested.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Quietrumble: No one will convince someone who is so afraid of actually listening to sensical words. You didn't even read it, as you yourself said.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
@MartinTheFirst: it's sensical to you because you're brainwashed.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Quietrumble: Yeah you can keep saying that if that makes you feel better about staying in complete misunderstanding. I won't force you to read what I say. But don't go around preaching that we're a bad organization if you won't even let yourself be discussed. It's silly behavior.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
🤦 Sigh... Rumors will stay rumors. The ones who listen to them are naive.
