I Am Sensitive to Criticism

I've never been able to take it well. To me, it's always like a real insult and it genuinely hurts me. Even constructive, compassionate criticism is something I take the wrong way or make a big deal out of it.

I hope one day I'll be able to deal with it. I'm not holding much hope though.

with training your sensitivities will callous, much like your skin.

@electropura: what would you have stood to gain had you succeeded? do you really require what you seek? think of ways to improve your situation right now, happiness is a choice not a destination.

@xSharp: Friends, the lost years. They're gone now.

@electropura: dwell in the future and the past and you will miss the present, what happens now shapes your future as well as what you future past will look like

You need to relax and learn to take what you think that would help you to be a better person, and simply ignore what you know that goes against your essence.
After all you decide what to do.

@Calipri: I'm aware of that. But I am not sure I buy into the whole "it's not personal" theory. Criticism is personal, as are compliments.

@electropura: not really. It's what others think you should do or be, not what you really need to be. You take it or leave it. After all you decide. That's why you should not take it too personal!
Let's say someone calls you stupid, you go on and believe it. That doesn't make sense! You are as intelligent as anyone, you have to believe it yourself and then what others say won't affect you.
But let's say your clothes are dirty... ok it's difficult to take at first, but all you have to do is forget about it, and wear clean clothes. If they keep talking and talking and criticizing about it, just ignore them. You did what you had to do.

Seems that you have to work on your self esteem, love yourself more to be more confident...
To please yourself, not others, and take what is constructive and what is destructive.

@electropura: and I also need to working on mine because some stupid actions of people ( not words so much)-still harm me, but I'm learning hopefully someday I'll be stronger. Good luck for you, you are not alone :)
