Sam is the hero next door

When I was 11 or 12 I forgot my PE kit in school and had to do indoor games in my underwear. I pleaded to be let off but I wasn't. I stripped down to my briefs which had the cartoon Fireman Sam on them. From that PE lesson onwards, for a few weeks, I was teased with the Fireman Sam intro "Sam is the hero next door."

I love that show. Fireman Sam is one of my favorites.

@Sidewinder I've been told they've made a new one. I don't know why they bother. Children don't know how old their cartoons are. Nor do they care. I watched the original Scooby and I didn't know it was twenty years old. It didn't matter. I watched the Flintstones too, and they were forty years old. It didn't matter.

You were the hero, doing PE like that, or even doing PE at all. Not my favourite lesson.

I just had white briefs. In those days cartoon characters would have been Captain Pugwash and Noggin the Nog. They would have made any pants look good!

[@Gumba 1000] That is somewhat pleasing to know.

@oneofnine I used to like Daphne from Scooby Doo. The '60s version, not this modern day twaddle.

@Gumba1000 I know what you mean.

That would be nice watching the PE in undies

@jakky I would have preferred that but our teacher made me take part in my undies.
