Sam is the hero next door

When I was 11 or 12 I forgot my PE kit in school and had to do indoor games in my underwear. I pleaded to be let off but I wasn't. I stripped down to my briefs which had the cartoon Fireman Sam on them. From that PE lesson onwards, for a few weeks, I was teased with the Fireman Sam intro "Sam is the hero next door."

I just had white briefs. In those days cartoon characters would have been Captain Pugwash and Noggin the Nog. They would have made any pants look good!

@oneofnine I'm you would have looked cute.

@Gumba1000 Thank you. I am sure you did too. I remember the cabin boy in Captain Pugwash. Rather attractive for a cartoon character.

@oneofnine It's a noted phenomenon; fancying cartoon charactes.

[@Gumba 1000] That is somewhat pleasing to know.

@oneofnine I used to like Daphne from Scooby Doo. The '60s version, not this modern day twaddle.

@Gumba1000 I know what you mean.
