Is this true? I heard that Biden is actually considering a travel ban to and from the state of Florida.

I heard that Florida has increasing numbers of infection from the more contagious and more deadly UK mutation of the virus, and that Joe Biden now wants to use federal powers to restrict travel...so that Florida residents could not leave, and residents from other states could not enter.

I'm wondering if that is really true or is it more hate mongering?

And, if it is true, has the Constitution been changed in some way so that it has become legal for the federal government to impose travel restrictions on the states?
Driver2 · M
I f do not know how he can go that .but don’t forget they have the entire media to give them cover and big tech to choke off the truth .
But there is a big economic problem also .

Bottom line if they fo something crazy like that all bets are off .
@Driver2 the element that gets affected are the people despite the media and big tech running interference for the politicians.
4meAndyou · F
@soar2newhighs I think that means the people of Florida...and all over the country...should fill up all their gas tanks, charge up all their batteries, buy the solar chargers they were only thinking about before, and fill up their freezers.

@4meAndyou all of the sudden there would be all kind essential people

Covid cases in Florida are rapidly declining despite having the highest amount of elderly population. Governor DeSantis has ordered everyone back to work and to get on with the business of living. Biden shot back threatening to restrict the travel of Floridians. DeSantis said he will not allow this administration to play political games.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi That's two people who actually know. Have you heard anything at all about the UK strain or are local governments keeping it under wraps?
curiosi · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou Haven't heard, this whole thing from the beginning was to make the sheep fearful. A new strain is a good way to keep the sheep in line.
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi We should talk to people from the UK, I guess. I heard that the UK strain is far more contagious, and that it has arrived in the States, in Colorado and Minnesota, but I hadn't heard about Florida.
AbbeyRhode · F
What a coincidence, that our real President lives in Florida. 🤨
AbbeyRhode · F
@4meAndyou There is a reason they say "ugly as sin." That level of evil is hard to look at, it's just horrible.
4meAndyou · F
@AbbeyRhode I think, after watching the complete departures from reality with no actual believable witnesses, that it is more about sensationalism and the real sin...the real ugliness...is that it is ONLY being done for the smear.

@4meAndyou They are so desperate to do any damage they can, in any way they can.
Lol, that's very fitting! 😄

Biden is doing a lot that I personally believe is wrong. I pray something good comes out of all this that is going on in our country.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Striker Biden hasn't done anything right yet. He is a disgrace.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout comes from the same people who thinks a trial should come before a investigation is complete
This has been reported. Same for other states with “mutant strains”?
He’s entering either on his own or is being pushed into this by his handlers and it’s a very risky if not a dangerous move.
Keeps this up, the Capitol incident will potentially look like a walk in the park, the people are fed up!
@SW-User The administration is considering it as per Biden’s spokesperson and It has generated a response from Florida’s Governor.
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User @soar2newhighs Both of you are correct, apparently.
SW-User
@soar2newhighs lol. Oh yes, it definitely generated a response from DeSantis & Rubio last night on Fox. Common sense tells me that it was never really considered seriously. Simply for the fact that DeSantis would never, ever agree to it.
Baremine · 70-79, C
The damn Democrats think they can ignore the constitution. It wouldn't surprise me if comrade Joe tried that.
TexChik · F
he sure didnt support a travel ban with China...likely just propaganda
CantExplain · 61-69, M
If that were to occur, you can bet it will go straight to the courts. And so far, they’ve been upholding the parts of the 1st Amendment - freedom to worship. We’ll see if they uphold freedom of association (travel?)
CantExplain · 61-69, M
@soar2newhighs I think you have the right bet
@4meAndyou well re: blue states perhaps the politicians will (not all) but the citizens are being targeted and there very well may be serious back lash from them, regardless of political stripe.
4meAndyou · F
@soar2newhighs Yup. Florida is full of New Yorkers and they won't go quietly into that good night, that's for sure.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Correct, the Biden administration is considering domestic travel restrictions to and from Florida.

https://www.newsobserver.com/news/coronavirus/article249154715.html
4meAndyou · F
@SumKindaMunster Stereoguy says the state website is reporting that numbers are going down...not up. So do you think they are hiding the numbers or not reporting the variant?

It sounds like they really ARE talking about travel restrictions...😳
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@4meAndyou Maybe the variant hasn't had enough time to spread and this is a lull before the numbers go up?

Does it matter? Covid 19 has fallen along the political divide just like everything else in this country these days.

I'll say this. I would take the anecdotal experiences of people who live and work in Florida over the Biden administration or the MSM.
4meAndyou · F
@SumKindaMunster You are probably right. I don't know if anything I read or see on television is true anymore. But it does appear that discussions are underway...covering all the possible scenarios.
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
A frightened population is far more likely to surrender their rights when they blindly seek safety. Not hate mongering, fear mongering.
4meAndyou · F
@sunrisehawk Do you think the story is being spread by the right or by the left?
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou Both, for different reasons, from the left a trial balloon to test the way the wind is blowing or to garner public support. From the right to warn what may be coming. Just my opinion.
4meAndyou · F
@sunrisehawk Sounds like it might be a true opinion, too.
SW-User
No, it's not true. Just someone starting the rumor mill going again to get people upset.

https://www.local10.com/news/politics/2021/02/12/biden-administration-confirms-there-is-no-plan-for-travel-ban-for-florida/
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User I think that first part of the ongoing Discussions is more reassuring than anything else...
“...no policy announcements are imminent, and that any move to restrict travel or impose new health measures would be taken in partnership with state and local governments.”
That's the part I like. It means there is an awareness of the Constitution.
@SW-User Thanks for your input. And by July we will have if I heard Biden correctly, 300 million vaccines available so I guess we’ll be good to go and Florida off the table,
SW-User
@4meAndyou I think he's extremely aware the world is watching him.

@soar2newhighs You're welcome. I saw that info too. I do hope it's true. I'll believe it when I see it. Anything can go wrong between now and then as far as a supply chain is concerned. But, I'm hopeful.
CantExplain · 61-69, M
We’re now entering the era of, “show me your papers “
4meAndyou · F
@CantExplain Yup. Vaccination cards are being issued so you can keep them in your wallet.
Driver2 · M
@CantExplain if that happened than what happened on January 6th will look like a school dance. Maybe that’s what they want. We are dealing with communist that are controlling the empty suit.
He wants Trump to stay put, lol
4meAndyou · F
@Itsmrsockmonkey While his stooges import the South African and Brazilian strains of the virus no doubt. Via the southern border.😟
I agree with you!@4meAndyou
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Think it'll apply to sports and politicians
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
desantis would never allow it 😂
4meAndyou · F
I just thought of this aspect of,(possibly), restricting travel from Florida.

Florida is a hurricane state. They are evacuated on a regular basis.

Florida Gov. DeSantis Rips Talk of Domestic Travel Restrictions
4meAndyou · F
@Confined I did see another article that says this would ONLY be done in cooperation with the states...if at all...which makes more sense.

Miami Herald:
afternoon quotes a White House official answering a question about the virus UK mutation: “...we’re having conversations about anything that would help mitigate spread.”

Several paragraphs later, the article quotes two other officials clarifying that “...no policy announcements are imminent, and that any move to restrict travel or impose new health measures would be taken in partnership with state and local governments.”
@Stereoguy SumkindofMunster has a very interesting article you should read.
4meAndyou · F
@Stereoguy I think you are right about the numbers, but just to hedge ALL your bets, (and since you were going to do it anyway), why don't you fill up that new freezer of yours with some awesome frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls? Or breakfast sandwiches? You will always be able to use them, because you always have days when you don't want to go out to eat.
