Yes! Bullfrogs and crickets are the sounds I slept to growing up. I miss that!

@sarabee1995 Don’t know about you but I used to try and stay away, not that I could 😁

I have something in reverse to that.... Truman's Brewery was situated behind where maternal grandmother lived in the East End of London (on the street where one of Jack The Ripper's victims was found). They stopped brewing there more than 30 years ago - but when I read that the brewery was re-opening it brought back the smell of the malted hops... and then the rooms in the house, particularly one under the eaves with a tin bath (no proper bathroom!) from where we could see the brewery.. When I emailed my sisters with the news about the revival of Truman's they experienced exactly the same sensations (nearly 60 years on).

@ArtieKat I had my uni exhibit there!

@SW-User Small world. I think they're now brewing in Hackney or Homerton....

Lol, I think you'll know what I'm about to say, after all you were there. We used really old Holden cars for our wedding, when I climbed into the car I got a really warm feeling when the smell of the interia watered over me. It brought back fond memories of my beautiful grand parents. It has been over twenty years since I smelt that and it felt like yesterday.

The smell of the first rains after the dry season. Bring back childhood memories.

The ocean sounds and smells bring back soooo many memories of childhood through adulthood. It brings back thoughts of old flames and losses, of the best times in my life and some not so great. But all in all, it always soothes and comforts me.

@Les02 I live in a beach city, so a lot of our activities were at the beaches or bays, parties, get together's, celebrations, vacations and even work. I've spent most of my life at or around the beach. :) So, there are good and not good memories. Break ups happened there and worse happened there too. BUT, over all it's the place I'd go for everything.
Sleeping on the beach is an amazing experience. So glad you've had nothing but great memories. I hope it stays that way. :D

@MrPerditus1 So the beach is actually just apart of your existence. Good for you, I’m almost a little envious. Can you hear the ocean from your house?
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@Les02 Yes, the beach has been a part of my life since I can remember. Summer times here are a bit insane though, half the time we can't get to them because of the tourists, but can't really complain because said tourists do help the economy.
Can't hear it from where I live now but on good days, you can catch the aroma during strong windy days. I use to live off the board walk of one beach for a few years and my bedroom balcony looked out over the yard directly to the beach. Sunsets were the most amazing from there.

Fresh cut grass reminds of summer sports matches, grass cuttings reminds me of where I played tennis, certain music reminds me of different girlfriends.
Whilst there are one or two albums that when I listen to them, I can remember where I was sat reading on a train, who I was with and what we were doing etc even after 20 years.

@justastrugglingguy Mo doubt there would be a mixed bag of emotions amongst that lot 👍️
The fresh cut grass would always bring the cows up the hill to the back fence, I used to like feeling them while giving them a scratch on the head 🙂

Sound of frogs reminds me my school days and continuous rains, where frogs used to make sound in stagnant water 🙂

That kinda musty but still good scent of a house in the east coast summer
Les02 · 26-30, F
@DrawntoaDistance Uhhh yes another familiar smell, do you smile on the inside when you smell them. We had horses when I was a teenager and that brings back fond memories to 🙂
