What sounds or smells bring memories flooding back

One of many examples for me is the sound of frogs as I fall asleep, it’s so comforting when on the occasional times I hear them.

I have something in reverse to that.... Truman's Brewery was situated behind where maternal grandmother lived in the East End of London (on the street where one of Jack The Ripper's victims was found). They stopped brewing there more than 30 years ago - but when I read that the brewery was re-opening it brought back the smell of the malted hops... and then the rooms in the house, particularly one under the eaves with a tin bath (no proper bathroom!) from where we could see the brewery.. When I emailed my sisters with the news about the revival of Truman's they experienced exactly the same sensations (nearly 60 years on).

@ArtieKat That’s interesting, it’s funny how smells can become imbedded in our minds and cause such vivid recalls.
