Hmmm. Dogs are haram. He must have been pretty laid back. I actually dig Islamic modernism. I hope it catches on! Islamic modernism focuses on the Prophet of Mecca and considers the words of the Warlord of Medina strictly in historical context. They catch a lot of flack from fundamentalists. Like all religions, if you take the good stuff in the writings, it's actually pretty awesome.

He felt conflicted because his religion often denotes that this is one way although not fully agreed with, to punish a woman. I have had a similar talk like this with some of my Muslim friends. But don't let this get to you. People are who they are. And I personally don't believe that the topic of religion is always something people can discuss in a rational and peaceful manner. ☺
