So, where were you on September 11, 2001?

I had only been married for 3 months and was in my second year of graduate school.

I was sucking my thumb and shitting myself, not unlike a lot of SW users now.
@SW-User Lol 😂

It was my 3rd wedding anniversary. I was at work. I recall seeing it unfold on the tv in the break room. Terrified and heartbroken at what I was seeing.
@skmokisses I was really worried because I was living in Chicago at the time, and I heard that the Willis/Sears Tower might be next.

I live in Atlanta and we were worried about the CDC. I can imagine people across the country were worried for one reason or another. @latinbutterfly

Married for four months. On my way to work in a tiny office cramped with computer dudes.

All news websites were down but I found some Florida local news website with updates.

I was in 3rd grade. I remember hearing about it on the radio on the way to school. The principal came into class to talk about it.

I was getting ready for school when the radio urged listeners to turn on the TV. It was just after the first plane hit. I stayed home long enough to see both towers fall, hear about the Pentagon, and about flight 93. My history teacher commandeered one of the few TV's and we continued watching the news for another two hours of her class.
By lunch time my school had dozens of volunteers from religious organizations, therapists, and counselors available for anyone who might need it.

Just started primary school and thinking is the best thing ever and I am a big girl now :)

I was 33 years old and had been married for a little over 2 years, with a 11 month old baby. I was watching the morning news & had just finished my breakfast. I was about to get ready for work when I saw the 2nd plane hit. Called the office to tell them that I was gonna take a “personal day”. Stayed home & watched the news all day.
I was at home, calling my office to tell them I was going to be late. I was watching the news as I was talking to a lady a the office and the plane hit the building right as I was on the phone with her. I never made it to work. They closed the office that day and the people who were there went home.

Washington, DC. I had stopped off to see one of my brothers who had recently gotten married as I had left LA on the 10th and didn't have to be back in Manhattan until later that week.
@toddr13 Good thing you didn't have to be back on that Tuesday, huh?
toddr13 · 46-50, M
@latinbutterfly Yes and no. At the time, he lived only a couple of minutes from The Pentagon.
@toddr13 Oh wow 👀...

2nd year of college, lived off campus
didn't realize anything was going on until
I saw an Empty main parking lot, signs everywhere
cancelling classes and I walked in to the cafeteria
just in time to see the first tower fall.

CountScrofula · 41-45, M
I was at home on the computer playing a game or something. Roommate ran in from university asking if I heard what had happened (I hadn't). So it was a couple hours old by then.

FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Driving my son to daycare and heard it on the radio.
I was home, off work that day. I watched the news from about 5:30 am, as was my habit, and so I saw it when the second plane hit. The reporter cursed on-air. Subsequently they bleeped it out, when they re-aired the footage, but I heard it live. One of my colleagues’ had a daughter working at the Pentagon, and it took awhile before they found out she was safe. I have a cousin who worked in the North Tower (Cantor Fitzgerald). Purely by chance, someone had asked to trade vacation time with him, so he was home, too.
