I was home, off work that day. I watched the news from about 5:30 am, as was my habit, and so I saw it when the second plane hit. The reporter cursed on-air. Subsequently they bleeped it out, when they re-aired the footage, but I heard it live. One of my colleagues’ had a daughter working at the Pentagon, and it took awhile before they found out she was safe. I have a cousin who worked in the North Tower (Cantor Fitzgerald). Purely by chance, someone had asked to trade vacation time with him, so he was home, too.
