Theres no way I could get a new one if something were to happen to my current phone
"we feel your pain"
That's how they hook younger people to sign up on contact

@Teggy Yeah, and they get them to finance it as if it is a car!
@SW-User after my.first expensive phone I learned to save for big ticket items lol. If you need to finance it you just can't afford it.
SW-User
@Teggy That is very, very wise!

My phone is from the late 90's I think.
Cost me £20 second hand from a cex store about ten years ago.
I don't need it to be able run 4 apps sumultaneously. Nor do I want music or movie storage.
I couldn't care less for social media or live event streaming.
Since when was it important that your phone should be able to take HD megapixel photos ?
I mean seriously ! Come on. Who's life is THAT interesting ?
One day the world will come to it's tech. senses and folk will realise what they really want is a phone shop that designs apps customers want.
Not endless hardware that only kids are interested in.

@Picklebobble2 Exactly! NO ONE is that important!

@SW-User What makes me laugh is how they used to think having these things palm sized was the ultimate.
And twenty years on these things are now so big and delicate you daren't shove them in your pocket like you can with these old ones.
SW-User
@Picklebobble2 Yeah! They were like a brick!

Wait a year and buy the last year's model on Glyde or Swappa. You can go back even further, just find a series that can accept updates to the latest operating systems. Apple is rolling the forthcoming iOS back to the 5S. If you want an iPhone, the smaller SE series is very inexpensive and has the same chip as the 6S in a smaller package. There are options. Android OS has even more inexpensive options. Sure, it's not a Galaxy S9 or an iPhone XS, but you can buy a perfectly good phone for a fraction of the retail on the latest models when yours breaks. For 90% of users, a two year old phone has no discernible difference when talking about a modern smartphone.

I have multiple phones, since I have dedicated work phones, etc., and I only buy my phones. I had insurance on them, and never used it, so now I don't bother, just invest in a good case.

I have an LG Tribute (smart phone) and it didn't cost anywhere near that.

Find a bf. Mine is good with buying me new phones.
pajero · 36-40, M
Giving advice to a person to get a bf to buy it for them and then saying yours does because you are good in bed qualifies you as a whore. It doesn't mean that all men that spend money on their girlfriends are spending money on whores

Many carriers anticipate this so they offer you a "free upgrade" or a "device trade in" allowing you to get a newer phone at a discounted rate, oftentimes spreading out the cost to be included in your monthly bill.*

*This is how it is in the US, anyway.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
I picked up a pair of cheap throw away plastic flip phones. in the US while we were on holidays and loved mine so much I worked hard to unlock it when we got home so I could use it, as my phone. Sadly they shut the 3G band down and I had to upgrade.
Get a ph free on a plan
@pajero nope. I think I get a good deal and a reliable provider
pajero · 36-40, M
you are a fool if spending $100 a month on just phone is a good deal
@pajero Mkay. Thanks for playing

You could go for a refurb phone if you cannot afford new. A lot of folks have to have the latest and greatest, but I dont care so much about that.
abe182 · 46-50, M
I just bought a new phone $55 straight talk. Don't fall for the hype.
Samsung J3 Luna Pro.
Absolutely nothing wrong with it.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
Find a better job. You can pay it off in monthly installments. I think I have payments left on my phone. It was $450 though
abe182 · 46-50, M
If you look I just gave you the solution to your problem. Unless you're a phone snob that is.
Well take care of it - and if something does happen - go to Target and buy a go-phone.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
That's why they have insurance, lol. Also you can get a phone on a payment plan.
SW-User
Buy a used one and older model on eBay, silly. That's what I did.
