Question for all you Trump bashers...

Is every country that's in the same boat as us regarding this virus just as incompetent and ill prepared as you claim our President is?
Budwick · 70-79, M
President Trump is far from incompetent.
I think he and the folks working the virus issue are all doing an amazing job.

While the democrats have decided that this is another crisis to try and take advantage of at the cost of the every American not to mention the rest of the world. They are voting to further damage the economy - Trumps long suit. What a bunch of narcissistic ass wipes!

@Pavona Every president gets compared to past presidents. It is the nature of the beast. How the get compared is the issue, Bill Clinton was having sex with interns in the oval office, the response was "his sex life is his own business." Then he lied under oath to try to end the scandal, while there were three other women trying to get him in court on rape charges. "But, that is his business, not the country's." Then those same people who defended Clintons right to a private sex life, wanted to completely discredit Trump for an alleged affair before he was even a candidate. When Obama said the police did something stupid, he was just speaking his mind, but when Trump says something he doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt. Most of the time when Obama said something derogatory about the police, the courts proved that the police did indeed follow procedure and do the right thing. What Trump says when libs and the media has a stroke, is usually proven right even in hind sight. Like securing the border, we are getting gobsmacked with Corona, it might be different if we had better border security and customs enforcement.

[image deleted]Not every country has a bullshit spouting leader, who puts it's citizens in mortal danger to try & save his own ass!!
You're welcome ✌
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@JT123 You don't do facts hun, classic cult behaviour. Defend the Dear leader at all times!!
So your not denying the above points??
JT123 · M
@Harriet03 I don't do bullshit hun! You display classic brainwashed sheep behavior. Hopefully someday you will escape the spell but I doubt it. As they say over there Cheerio

It won't be long before you are the most infected nation on earth ..... and yes , the reason for that will be Trump's utter incompetence.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
No.

As a non-American who is watching this spread worldwide very closely, most responses were too cautious.

The US response was extremely bad. A combination of denying the virus was a problem and bad testing has put you guys in a terrifying situation.
I find it interesting that even when facing existential threats the image of a politician is something worth fighting for.

Precious.

Actually-- I think most world leaders have fucked this up. Either through denial or failing to invest in public health infrastructure. Or putting off doing anything hoping it might go away. To save their economies.

For fucks sake. Mexico's Obrador is in denial. I saw an article about him pushing Catholic amulets. Brazil's Bolzonaro's coronavirus response is all denial and it could destroy him politically.

Trump is just one in a whole line up of clueless world politicians.
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
To answer that question I'll just quote what he said in an interview two weeks back... It'll all be over by April ... I'll leave you to judge whether that makes him incompetent or not
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@JT123 he said by April, that means the end of March

I'm a Brit, as you know, and our government has been slow to react. I also think that the US govt has been slow to react.

The only countries that have dealt with this well are the East Asian nations where they got up huge testing facilities and quaranteem centres in two weeks.

Other European countries have been slow but done more and quicker than either Britain or America.

So whilst trunp is not alone in dealing with this badly, he has dealt with this badly.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Why does T-bag continue to make references to the Obama administration? Is he nervous about comparisons?

Despite being in office for only a few months, Obama had the wherewithal to get folks ready based on news coming from Mexico where he had tests ready within 2 weeks of the first US citizen diagnosed with H1N1.

Meanwhile, as recently as March 10 of this year, the White House was still insisting on CUTTING CDC funding by $2.1 billion in 2021. The President only reversed course on this late last week.

Is the President so out of touch to think that we don't need a strong CDC?

Since when do we establish the rubric for how to handle things based on other countries? Isn't the US the leader? Shouldn't other countries strive to be as good as we are?
curiosi · 61-69, F
Thank you! Back in January while Nancy and the libs were pushing a sham impeachment, Trump was restricting travel from China and catching flack for it. Things would be a lot worse without Trump. He is no magician but doing a lot and deserves credit!
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@curiosi "Nancy and the libs"
Nancy Pelosi hates liberals, and liberals hate her back. At least learn what these words mean before you use them.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@RandomForest Different demographics give different results, the average age in Italy is pushing 50 years while the US is mid 30s. This virus affects older people more harshly than younger people. The average of victims in the US who have died from COVID 19 is 77.26 years of age. just started to lockdown the whole country instead of just the northern part according to

https://www.kxan.com/news/coronavirus/everything-we-know-about-the-26-coronavirus-deaths-in-the-u-s/

Interesting info.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Roadsterrider Thank you very much for posting this important aspect.
If demographics play a significant role, countries such as Nigeria will have little to fear.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
I do not like our Govt at all. They botched every major issue since election and Scummo can be singled out as imcompetent all round. However on this Virus issue he has yet to put a toot really wrong and has already gotten two economice recovery packages through parliament at completely odds with his paries policies, when NOT over promising relief on the medical front and mostly working with the states to be proactive in quarantine measures. This thing is impacting us. But we feel informed and apart from the usual gangs of idiots who "arent going to let a little cold upset their social lives" most understand why they are being told what to do.
So No. we are not in the same boat as Trumpland and VERY happy not to be on that cruise.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Budwick We agree. We certainly dont need your problems. And the states being self governing was precisely the idea I had in mind when I said saner heads would prevail over Trump regarding these distance rules. I doubt even the reddest of states are bad enough at maths to let that one pass.
In the end though it is about compliance, So the ignorant and stupid will carry on as usual while the cautious will stay home.. Who knows, it may end up lifting the average of the average American and thin the herd of Trump supporters.
Budwick · 70-79, M

MOST countries are, as you say, 'in the same boat'. Not ALL, NEVER ALL. Your love for tRump* and all things him, keeps you from learning and getting TRUTHFUL information.

So. Korea and the United States BOTH had the first positive result from the covid-19 test.

You can find (although, I highly doubt you will look for) many side by side comparisons between the two countries.

tRump* didn't AND STILL hasn't sent enough tests out the the states (except for those who kiss his ample ass) There is so much wrong and so much blatant vindictiveness in HIS actions.

I'm not posting this for you, because I think there is nothing anyone can do to help you with your willfull ignorance, I am posting for those who click on this post that maybe, just maybe they will get a clue.

https://www.thenation.com/article/world/coronavirus-south-korea-america/

The contrast is particularly shocking because health authorities in both South Korea and the United States learned of their first coronavirus case on the same day in late January, according to an investigation published by Reuters. Seven weeks later, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had tested close to 300,000 people out of a population of 51 million, while the United States is “not even close to meeting demand for testing,” with only 60,000 tests in a population of 330 million, Reuters reported.

South Korea’s rapid rollout of its testing was crucial because “speed is paramount” in outbreak situations, Sanghyuk Shin, an assistant professor of nursing at the University of California at Irvine and the director of UCI’s Infectious Disease Science Initiative, told The Nation. “The longer the delay, the greater the mortality, and the public health response becomes much more difficult,” he said in an interview.

Other countries were more prepared to deal with the virus than the U.S. Downplaying the virus for weeks and ignoring warnings about it from intel was pretty incompetent of Trump. The country who also did a similar response was China.
helenS · 36-40, F
President Trump has apparently changed his mind. He is taking the threat seriously now. I applaud his recent efforts.

@Bodymindsoul *you're

Sorry. Pet peeve.
What happened to American exceptionalism and Trump being a better leader than everyone else? Are you saying he’s just average? Here’s where he screwed up:

Firing staff that deals with pandemics

Refusing the WHO test kits with no domestic alternative

Not shutting down flights from China earlier

Saying that the disease was minor and lying about the number of cases

Failing to mount a coherent national response

Showing no leadership with Congress

He’s in over his head, and the best thing he and Q-Tip could do is resign and let a real leader like Pelosi handle this.
Trump is doing all he can
@fairefoutre He doesn’t understand balance sheets either.
@LeopoldBloom just how would you handle it differently
daisymay · 51-55, T
@Bodymindsoul False.
There are no countries doing this poorly. So you should reexamine your thesis.
Roadsterrider · 56-60, M
@RandomForest Italy and Spain seem to be getting hit considerably harder than we are in the US. Whether they are testing or not, they are getting whacked.
@Roadsterrider Italy is just ahead of us in cases by two weeks. Our curve is actually steeper than theirs.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
Americans are spoiled...a President like Abe Lincoln could be in the oval office and our people would still be giving him hell over this.

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
Of all the reasons I bash Trump that's not really one of them. I usually bash Trump for funding jihad in the Middle East or supporting pledge laws that violate the First Amendment.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@JT123 Yes, Obama was funding jihad. And Trump has continued that tradition. The United States gives hundreds of billions of dollars and equal worth in weapons to Saudi Arabia, who supplies a wife variety of Sunni militias and terrorist groups. Meaning the USA is, through middleman, is supporting Al Qaeda, NTJ, ISIS, ISIL, the Yarmoush Martyrs Brigade, Al Shabaab, Boko Haram, and a number of other jihadists groups. And in the case of the Al Nusra Front, we don't use a middleman at all. We just give the money and weapons directly to them.

Trump is doing it now. Obama did it before him. Bush did it before him. Back in Clinton's day the Mujahideen existed and he supported them too.
JT123 · M
@BlueMetalChick You are so misinformed :(
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@JT123 Ah, I'm misinformed. So then Trump is lying to me, yes? And the State Department is also lying? And the Department of Defense is lying? And the Saudi government is lying? And every major news outlet both rightist and leftist is lying? And Boeing is lying? And Northrop Grumman is lying? And Raytheon and Honeywell and Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics and L3Harris and BAE Systems are lying? And the National Security Administration is lying?

You're telling me all those sources, all those people who have all those records of weapons sales to the Saudis and where they go, who buys them, for how much and when and where, are all fabricating the same story?

And those times Donald Trump was in front of cameras with the Saudi royalty detailing all the specifics of the weapons deals, that was fake? What, that wasn't Trump and those weren't the Saudi princes? They were paid actors I guess.

And all those photographs and videos of Islamic State insurgents and National Thow'heeth Jamath militants using American weapons that they got from Saudi Arabia must have all been fugazi too. Photoshop maybe?

And I guess conventional arms transfer policy is a myth too considering all the detailed records of bulk weapons sales to the Al Nusra Front as well. And so must be the Foreign Assistance Act.
Graylight · 51-55, F
We have no idea yet where we are "regarding this virus." Don't look to Europe to compare success or failure rates. What we're seeing is our own future when we look to them.

And if we do well in keeping contamination down, it won't because Trump "felt" the pandemic coming and did nothing. It won't be because US intelligence agencies and the CDC warned him of an impending pandemic and he did nothing. It won't be because he dissolved the global pandemic response team. It won't be because he promised millions of tests to anyone who wanted them or because he's touting the availability of a completely unavailable and untested drug in no way show to demonstrate superiority over this virus.
Northwest · M
The thing is, we live in the USA, and leaders of other countries, do not affect our lives. Our own president does. Your argument: he sucks just as bad as other countries' leaders, notwithstanding, here's a clear example of his incompetence.

Trump tweet, 2 hours ago:
Working very well with States and our Nation’s Governors. #TEAMWORK
Trump tweet, one hour later:
.@JBPritzker, Governor of Illinois, and a very small group of certain other Governors, together with Fake News @CNN & Concast (MSDNC), shouldn’t be blaming the Federal Government for their own shortcomings. We are there to back you up should you fail, and always will be!
daisymay · 51-55, T
No, see, because their heads of state are following the guidance and advice of actual medical professionals and not a person with a "natural ability" in medicine and virology that is, frankly, dubious at best.
Torsten · 36-40, M
man people just try accusing trump for every little thing to try and justify their obsessive hatred towards him
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Torsten Nah, most of it's straight out of his own mouth hun!!
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Harriet03 he says stupid crap, granted but people act like he is Hitler and well, lets be honest. he isn't that bad
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Torsten Yet!!
One thing has nothing to do with the other. other countries bash their leaders too but they have to be more careful or they will die. Trump made a mistake. he should have said , "screw it..i am probably not going to be president any more so i will do the correct thing and give every American 24 hours to get home to their country or else. i will close America to the rest of the world". Others would have followed suit. Everyone is so afraid to do the right thing...I said it as soon as i heard people in China died. CLOSE THE BORDERS!
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@LILY61 how is entirely closing the borders going to help. You already have people with it in the US. You gave no idea how many cases there are already or which states are affected. Are you going to close state lines too?
@basilfawlty89 i said this in January. What difference did it make at the end of February? if there were a few cases they should have been rushed to that medical Navy ship....and by the way, where has that been up til now? And yes, the state to state travel should have been limited right away to those who needed to for work.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
