Why do you think President Trump has affected general social ideological polarity so much as opposed to other presidents?

therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
Because somebody is finally standing up to the elite pseudo liberal technocratic globalists who were taking a wrecking ball to this country. Somebody is finally saying no to the leftist agenda and their fairytales. Somebody is finally saying halt to the police state technocracy. The leftist totalitarians have finally been punched back and the hands of justice are no longer tied behind the patriots backs.

The masks have finally been ripped off the cultural marxist pseudo liberals and their propagandist lies. Sunshine is the greatest disinfectant and the vile ideology known as liberalism has been knocked to the floor. Trump can't be nice and help them up, he needs to expose the last eight years of tyranny/treason and restore the Republic. President Trump is doing his job methodically, performing with the care and skill of a surgeon. Saul of Tarsus aka Trump is the only man who could have done this. A man who once knew corruption and was part of it is now exposing it all. God bless Donald Trump....

@aaatheaaa obammy is a dumb ass pos.
He should be in prison in my opinion.

Trump isn't a politician , he’s a billionaire businessman that expects results unapologetically . And he came along at the exact time in history when he was needed the most ... when backbone and courage had become the exception rather than the rule .
@TexChik My thoughts exactly!
revenant · F
For me it is because he calls a spade a spade and does not care about political correctness which we have endured for so long.
@revenant Trump's presidency and my support of same has ended friendships that have lasted decades. My own daughter is not talking to me because I am a MAGA person.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Sorry to hear that. @puck61
TexChik · F
@puck61 geeze !
Graylight · 51-55, F
Because he has openly and aggressively created an atmosphere of 'us' against 'them' through his speech, actions and ideologies. He name calls and ostracizes - if not illegally threatens - anyone who disagree with him. In short, he encourages bad and polarizing behavior because he himself lives by it.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@puck61 What racist hate groups?

What did Obama say that was openly disrespectful to law enforcement?

What did Obama do that disrespected the US flag?

Let's break down the last one: How did the country specifically decay under Obama's policies? What specific corrupt financial activities? Who's the world's biggest terrorism supporter? What are the litany of his regular lies?

ON THE OTHER HAND...

Trump has aligned himself with white supremacists in his support of certain actions, he has openly supported known racist local officials, he has repeatedly denigrated other races and cultures with comments on Mexicans, Puerto Rican US citizens, the Chinese, Africa and so on.

Some might - and do - call Trump intensely disrespectful of law enforcement, as demonstrated through his support of corrupt officials, mocking of the Justice Department and openly wondering why law enforcement hasn't done enough to protect from mass shootings.

Trump loves the flag; you're right on that one.

Leading economists and financial professionals have criticized Trump's tax bill as trickle-up economics and his recent tariffs as crippling for the US economy. Millions of US citizens are now uninsured and this administration is trying to make it even more difficult to access basic health care in the wealthiest nation on earth. This is 'decay of country through policy.'

If you can find one legitimate scandal that comes within a country mile of the train wreck that is the current administration, please jog my memory.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
There are an equal number of economists and health care experts who disagree. So what? @Graylight
@Graylight He lied and had people lie about Benghazi.
He paid 'payola' to Iran.
He had "Black Lives Matter" in the white-house.
He encouraged cop killers. Verbally supporting an 'anti police' attitude.
He was behind the "Fast and Furious" debacle that resulted in deaths.
He has openly shown disregard and disrespect for the flag.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
He will willingly alienate or offend groups for the amusement of others. It's like if your boss came into work and said, "Man...Puck's family, bunch of murderers and rapists. Some are good I guess. Sometimes I grab the girls by the pussy."

If you're boss seriously said something like that about you and your family, you'd probably be pretty pissed off about it, or elsewise devoid of pride or affection for your family and yourself.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@puck61 You don't see him as generally offensive to anyone? I didn't realize that you represent everyone. In that case, I encourage you to actively make a point of telling any person or group Trump has offended that you think they're shitty.
revenant · F
@Xuan12 name me one person you know who has not said anything remotely negative about any other group of people ? You ? and who has Trump insulted so bad anyway ?
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
@revenant Don't resort to two wrongs make a right. Just because something is common doesn't mean it should be acceptable. Prescription opioid abuse is rampant, with some souther states actually having more prescriptions for opioids than people living in them. Should we just excuse it because it's common? And the answer to your second question is a lot of people. You're pretending not to know even though you do, because you think feigning ignorance is a valid defense.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
We live in a world in which people think that everything they believe is the truth.
Paloma · 26-30, F
Because of the things he says. He says things in a much cruder, crasser way than other presidential candidates have
@Paloma I hope Ben Shapiro runs in 20. He would be perfect from my perspective.
Paloma · 26-30, F
@puck61 Might be hard for him to gain any traction without any political experience or a lot of money/connections. I don't know much about the guy though. Is he more conservative than liberal?
@Paloma He is a common sense conservative.
katielass · F
Because he actually has done what he promised, to upset the status quo. We've been electing people who promise to do that but until now, no one has actually done it. He's not the problem, the problem is people who ask for something and don't know what to do when they actually get it. That's dumb.
Cierzo · M
Americans know the answer better. From outside, I think he is the consequence of an already existing division rather than the cause.
SW-User
Because he is so ridiculous but many in his party still defend him
@SW-User Why is he ridiculous?
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Honestly, I think it is just a continuation of the slowly increasing trend of right vs left extremity. Not political position extremity, but emotional identification extremity.
@ViciDraco You have touched on something I give a great deal of though to. The id is 'individualist' whereas the 'ego' is 'collectivist'. We need to search these things out.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Well, Trump was a result of a populist backlash against the status quo in the west that has been building everywhere. Stuff like Brexit was happening before he got in.

But he's still influential and it's because he's a complete change from the status quo politics of the west. If he was just an establishment GOP candidate he'd just be enforcing politics that are already there.

@aaatheaaa His aggressiveness might result in unprecedented progress with NK. Do you think maybe "aggressiveness" might be a good thing these days?
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@puck61 Remember one thing, liberals were taught to never hit back. Their only agression comes out when they are fighting fictional evil. They fight problems which don't exist and provide "solutions" which create more problems promulgating perpetual worry and chaos. Prosperity, logic, common sense and accountability are things liberals tend to fear the most.

Was it Trump, or the people who put him there?

This video by UK comedian 'Jonathan Pie' goes some way to explaining why Trump won:

@BookOfSouls85 I agree with him on Hillary. She was a guaranteed loss for the dems, but I disagree about Trump (of course) He is a brave and ethical person at the 'end of the day'.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@BookOfSouls85 Electoral college put him in.
