Honestly, I think it is just a continuation of the slowly increasing trend of right vs left extremity. Not political position extremity, but emotional identification extremity.
@ViciDraco You have touched on something I give a great deal of though to. The id is 'individualist' whereas the 'ego' is 'collectivist'. We need to search these things out.
