Why do you think President Trump has affected general social ideological polarity so much as opposed to other presidents?

Because he has openly and aggressively created an atmosphere of 'us' against 'them' through his speech, actions and ideologies. He name calls and ostracizes - if not illegally threatens - anyone who disagree with him. In short, he encourages bad and polarizing behavior because he himself lives by it.
@Graylight Okay. Thank you. You don't think Obama did these things?

@puck61 I don't recall name-calling, the bashing of others' ideas, attacks on facts or the attempt to sway and entire population toward his bend on reality.

Now, if you felt that way under Obama, I'd like to know. Are there specific ways in which you think he also created such an atmosphere? I'm really asking - without discussion we can't know what another side even wants or needs.
@Graylight He invited racist hate groups into the white house. He openly insulted the police. He showed disregard for the flag. He contributed to the decay of this country through his policies, and engaged in dangerous corrupt financial activities with the biggest supporter of terrorism on earth, and he regularly lied to the American people.

@puck61 What racist hate groups?

What did Obama say that was openly disrespectful to law enforcement?

What did Obama do that disrespected the US flag?

Let's break down the last one: How did the country specifically decay under Obama's policies? What specific corrupt financial activities? Who's the world's biggest terrorism supporter? What are the litany of his regular lies?

ON THE OTHER HAND...

Trump has aligned himself with white supremacists in his support of certain actions, he has openly supported known racist local officials, he has repeatedly denigrated other races and cultures with comments on Mexicans, Puerto Rican US citizens, the Chinese, Africa and so on.

Some might - and do - call Trump intensely disrespectful of law enforcement, as demonstrated through his support of corrupt officials, mocking of the Justice Department and openly wondering why law enforcement hasn't done enough to protect from mass shootings.

Trump loves the flag; you're right on that one.

Leading economists and financial professionals have criticized Trump's tax bill as trickle-up economics and his recent tariffs as crippling for the US economy. Millions of US citizens are now uninsured and this administration is trying to make it even more difficult to access basic health care in the wealthiest nation on earth. This is 'decay of country through policy.'

If you can find one legitimate scandal that comes within a country mile of the train wreck that is the current administration, please jog my memory.

There are an equal number of economists and health care experts who disagree. So what? @Graylight
@Graylight He lied and had people lie about Benghazi.
He paid 'payola' to Iran.
He had "Black Lives Matter" in the white-house.
He encouraged cop killers. Verbally supporting an 'anti police' attitude.
He was behind the "Fast and Furious" debacle that resulted in deaths.
He has openly shown disregard and disrespect for the flag.
