Can you think of a movie you didn't like at first, but grew to love?

Why do you think your opinion changed?

For me.. There Will Be Blood. First time, found it boring. The soundtrack, cinematography, storyline, all grew on me. The character Daniel Day Lewis portrays, ruthless, manipulative, exceedingly greedy, he was sort of symbolic of the zeitgeist, a culture that is still prevalent in the world, of doing anything for acquisition.

Also, the remake of The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Fell asleep in the theater, but came to like it far more than the original.

And I've gotten to like Avatar more.

For me it was The Matrix. I didn't get into the movie watching it in the theater and felt the gunplay parts were so over the top and ridiculous but I've come to appreciate it more on repeat viewings.

@SW-User I can understand that.

The Before Trilogy by Richard Linklater. More specifically Before Sunrise, when I first watched it, I think I was too young to understand and appreciate the depth of the dialogue, which is what the whole trilogy was based upon.. both the simplicity and depth of those conversations. Thankfully I gave it another watch a couple of years ago, and it became one of my all-time favourite movies.

@DanielChristensen It is. But more than that, it's the conversational feel of it all. Not many, if any, movies do it well or focus on an original dialogue that feels realistic, genuine, contemplative and still full of cinematic effects.

@SW-User Sounds like something I would enjoy

@DanielChristensen If you haven't already, you should. It's a timeless movie, although I didn't care much about the last one in the trilogy, kind of made me a bit mad lol.. but they are meant to be watched as a trilogy, although each one is separate in a way. Hope you enjoy them. :)

Honestly, I think it's easier for me to list the movies that I loved at first, but have grown to dislike. Star Wars is on that list, as is Avatar.

@RemovedUsername8862 That would take things to a much deeper level.
RemovedUsername886226-30, M
@DanielChristensen Indeed, but I think that it'd be worthwhile.

@RemovedUsername8862 Absolutely it would be amazing

Interesting question. My opinion on movies generally remains consistent- though I love Daniel Day-Lewis, I still hate There Will Be Blood. 馃槈

But I have grown to appreciate certain movies more as I鈥檝e seen them again. Even though he鈥檚 an old perv, a few of Woody Allen鈥檚 movies fit into that category such as Annie Hall and Hannah and Her Sisters.

SimplyMe9526-30, F
@DanielChristensen yeah it is actually really funny. btw something that ruined it for me was tom hiddlestons old relationship with taylor swift, throughout the whole movie i was thinking "ew loki wtf"

The Disney version of Princess and the Frog. I've never cared much for the fairy tale, but it's one of my favorite Disney flicks now!

Harry Potter
DanielChristensen46-50, M
@HeyRouben The first one or in general? I had to get used to them too. I found them awfully derivitive
