Can you think of a movie you didn't like at first, but grew to love?

Why do you think your opinion changed?

For me.. There Will Be Blood. First time, found it boring. The soundtrack, cinematography, storyline, all grew on me. The character Daniel Day Lewis portrays, ruthless, manipulative, exceedingly greedy, he was sort of symbolic of the zeitgeist, a culture that is still prevalent in the world, of doing anything for acquisition.

Also, the remake of The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Fell asleep in the theater, but came to like it far more than the original.

And I've gotten to like Avatar more.

Honestly, I think it's easier for me to list the movies that I loved at first, but have grown to dislike. Star Wars is on that list, as is Avatar.

@RemovedUsername8862 Why do you think you stopped liking Star Wars?

@DanielChristensen There wasn't any substance that I could get into. The heroes are unambiguously good, the villains unambiguously bad. The only good parts of the Star Wars canon were the shades of grey - the Clones obeying unjust orders, the history of Darth Bane, the Yuuhzhan Vong Invasion and the methods deployed to stop that, the concept of the Living Force beyond Dark and Light sides - and all of those concepts were retconned or otherwise tossed out. It's just dull to me.

Also, the same basic story is told again and again, each time with a similar cast of characters. I want more than repetition with a bigger special effects budget.

@RemovedUsername8862 I loved the extended universe stories and was not pleased when it was all declared non cannon, but it doesn't matter I guess, still got to enjoy them.

@DanielChristensen Yeah. I would have liked to see the Yuuhzhan Vong, or the Killik, or the Ssi'ruk on the big screen! Or, hell Thrawn as he was originally written would have been great too!

@RemovedUsername8862 Me too. Perhaps eventually it will. Also amateur films are getting better. Eventually they won't be able to suppress these stories

@DanielChristensen Yeah! It'd be interesting to see darker stories from the Rebellion too! I mean, can you picture a depiction of a real space guerilla war/populist uprising? I'd love to see morally ambiguous Rebels doing things Vietcong style to captured Stormtroopers, and the Imperial Navy trying to do Hearts and Minds type things on reconquered planets. I mean, can you imagine Luke Skywalker being put into a position where he has to decide whether or not to purge a "liberated" planet of Imperials and Imperial sympathizers? That would be interesting.

@RemovedUsername8862 That would take things to a much deeper level.
RemovedUsername886226-30, M
@DanielChristensen Indeed, but I think that it'd be worthwhile.

@RemovedUsername8862 Absolutely it would be amazing
