I know that in my line of work, I'll face alot of loss but to know without a doubt one of them is literally dying breaks my heart.

They say don't get attached but that's impossible. To care for them, you have to care about them so how do you draw the line??
My new client is 83 and has bone cancer. There's no coming back from that.

So sorry to hear Tumble. I have a friend on discord with the same ailment. I'll be thinking of you and your client.

The not getting attached to your patients advice is bullshit.

Not only it isn't realistic, it is counter-productive. You will end up dehumanizing yourself and the process by completely switching off feelings.

Feel, love, care, bond, grieve and accept. It does get more natural as you go through it knowingly and look at sadness as a normal part of existence just like happiness.

I am sorry you're losing a loved one.

The most you can do is show up for them in the best way possible. It's painful either way, but a clear conscience gets you going.
