Is there a hum of activity or a deadly quiet where you work?

My work is difficult to describe

One or two days a week it is a flurry of absolute chaos, the others it’s quiet and dull

Except at any moment we can get an email or a call that will set off a flurry of profanity and frantic phone calls

It’s like being on call for the worst kinds of nonsense imaginable

It could be both bit obviously not at the same time

My old job was seldom quiet.

I'm a brine taster over at the pickle factory. It requires a lot of concentration so it's pretty quiet. I'm hoping to become an olive stuffer. Those guys have a lot of fun!

...there is just the ringing of a solitary phone...wait! The call is coming from inside the house!

Right now, the hum of the pool pump, and the sound of my fingers typing on my laptop are the only sounds.
