I know two weeks is the standard, but if things were the other way around and they were getting rid of you they wouldn't give you any notice. In that light alone I think a week is more than generous.
@ViciDraco you are right though... I know they'll make it work.

I almost did that. I quit my last job 2 months ago. Hated it with a fiery passion. Was tempted to give myself a week off and then I decided, since I'm in training I'll do both jobs. Do 4 hours of training at the new job then go to my regular job. Get some extra pay. It was worth it. Even though I gave them 2 weeks notice, it was actually only a week because the new job wouldn't wait that long. Shortly after I left they've been losing employees left and right. Maybe a coincidence but I know for sure many many employees wanted the hell out of there. Even the store manager had enough and bounced.

New job is so much better. Better pay, overtime (which im happy for and upset about at the same time), only 2 bosses but generally only have to deal with one. Technically lots of cowokers but 99% of the time I only have one. Stupid easy work, lots and lots of break time (technically we're overseeing the machines to make sure they don't breakdown). My stress has dropped dramatically. I can even listen to music and podcasts at work

Smart move and a bit of self care! Free time is important plus things you’ll accomplish. Good luck in your next endeavor.

A break to do some things you want to get done will be good for you. You’ll start your new job refreshed.
So happy to hear this!
@catastrophecarnival thank you Mama 😀

Great for you. 😀
Congratulations. My vacations every few years seem to be between jobs
@Justafantasy kinda crazy to live this way. I wish I had more stability, it just doesn't exist here
@MarbleMarvel stability is an ever changing line in the sand. Some days easily reachable, other days a mile out in the sea. I hope you enjoy the new job more than the old one and have some fun in between the 2
