When I began to speak to gatherings, I found that if I convinced myself that I knew more about the subject than anyone else there, I had the confidence to do it well.

I've run training sessions.. The thing to remember is people want to be entertained... Keep it lively and laugh at your own mistakes and they'll love you...

@Notladylike as a general statement they want you to be successful....

If it's technical and something I really understand for work I can really rip...If I'm not sure how what I'm saying will be accepted, like at town meetings I can get a little nervous...

I don’t do a lot of it, but I’m actually not too bad at it. I’ve given trainings and presentations to larger groups in my day.
Miram · 31-35, F
Yes, and in different languages too.
It can be fun but also draining emotionally.

@Miram Impressive I can barely do it in English!
It’s fun for that initial rush and then I have to hide in dark room for a few days after. Cause peopling

@Notladylike I find that if you work on acting skills, there are courses online, it will be easier. Nothing wrong in creating a persona that can shelter your sweet self.
@Miram Most of my work personality is a mask 🫠🌻. After doing lots of things where I was recorded I found I’ve been able to improve. Just getting desensitised to it has helped.

I used to speak in front of a classroom of people on a regular basis. I still don’t know how I managed.
reubles · 41-45, M
No, but I'm comfortable with it. Which is weird because, in general, I dislike speaking with most people. But talking at people is much different, apparently
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Yeah it's something I have a good knack for
@CountScrofula Of course you do! What can’t you do is more the question Daveo
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Notladylike I cannot whistle. At all.
@CountScrofula Good!
Lugwho · 61-69, M
Not for a long while. I always used to dread it but was fine once I started.
NoxAeterna · 41-45, M
No. Struggle even with very small groups. Too easily psyche myself out.
Madmonk · M
It just takes time. Manuscript first then switch to notecards with just your points to be made. The more you do it the easier it is.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
Not really anymore. When I taught, it was an everyday thing.
itsok · 31-35, F
Nooo, I still have trouble talking one on one
@itsok I used to be like that. I was basically selectively mute.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Yes, I have given presentation and hosted an office thing
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@Notladylike what does that mean I see and throw mic at others
@Donotfolowme I’d believe it.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@Notladylike dayum!!! You know me well 🤨
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
Nope but I wouldnt mind it.
lostlissa · 36-40, F
It doesn't bother me to talk in front of large groups of people
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
I have done it before and it’s not bad
mindstruggle · 31-35, F
No never lol
Mostly to colleagues- training
WandererTony · 56-60, M

Pure extempore. As i am too lazy to draft speeches. 😃

Not these days but in the past I did
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
A few times a year. If I know the subject I’m okay…
@Fukfacewillie That’s half the trick isn’t it. I imagine you’d be great at it.
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@Notladylike Thanks…I think the same of you!
