Are they big tippers or do they still believe 1 crisp dollar bill will make your day?
Tumbleweed · F
@FloorGenAdm pfft... They're NO tippers
Casheyane · 31-35, F
It's unfair for both sides. If you're feeling that, then the others may be too. Arrange a meeting, agree on things with your head, have the head talk to management. If the elderlies are paying to stay but are evidently needing more care and management agreed, then they should have briefed their workers at least before they accepted the booking.
You can agree on incentives, maybe like higher salary or other benefits. If you are required to go beyond usual job description, then arrange that at least. But make sure to do it all in private out of the elderlies and other customers' hearing range.
At the same time, I hope you find it in you to be more patient with them. All of us grow old and no one knows where we would be someday. You need kindness. So do they.

@Casheyane I agree, I'm kind to them because they didn't ask to be in the shape they're in. What pusses me off is the people who sent them to us as well as our manager accepting them simply for the MONEY.
It's frustrating to say the least. We have one who sits down & has to have her food brought to her. So in that case, they need assistance from whoever does it for her at home...

I'm sorry you and other staff are being forced to care for people who need special care. I am OLD, and I understand. I pray for patience every day as I deal with myself and others like me.
Tumbleweed · F
@exexec It's ridiculous. We are booked solid every night because we have business people and they have to get to work & I honestly feel that this is unfair to them.
exexec · 70-79, C
@Tumbleweed It could cost you business in the long run.

I've noticed at my job too that a lot of elderly are still running around without help or care. I try to be patient because I know they're families probably ditched them, but also, no, we're not nurses and caretakers. I can't do my job effectively and wait hand and foot on someone who needs specific care.
Tbh I think it's sad. I think these people's families are too busy slaving away to care for their elderly and care for them cost a fortune.
Yay America...

@Captain It really is but I don't have time to deal with it. I help them best I can but when we're busy, I can't do it.

@Tumbleweed All you can do
Tumbleweed · F
@Captain It's frustrating
Carla · 61-69, F
Take it up with your management. I will lay odds that a deal was struck with the elders's community owner.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Tumbleweed geeze. Ask them if they will pay extra for elder care. It is a skilled trade.
Im being facetious here. But really...

@Carla Seriously though! I mopped the floor 5 times, changed the mop head and the water & mopped AGAIN. Because he rolled his walker through it & tracked it across the whole floor.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Tumbleweed too much
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
This is madly sad I feel pissed these elderly are getting treated like this. There should be at least 5 attendants with them all the time. This is us today very shameful.
Can't you report it?
Can't you report it?
Tumbleweed · F
@Donotfolowme Probably wouldn't do any good. They've yet to do anything about man with the soiled pants, all around the food..

And remember that "Breakfast Service Worker Kills Annoying Guests" is really NOT what you want to be the defining bit of your life...
Tumbleweed · F
@SomeMichGuy Me too!! I've had to walk away a few times to keep from getting fired
SomeMichGuy · M
@Tumbleweed Just keep that in mind.
Tumbleweed · F
@SomeMichGuy damn shame how money rules, people put crowns on it.
SomeMichGuy · M
Be calm, you are soon out of there.
Tumbleweed · F
@SomeMichGuy True
