I’m retired, but my favorite place was in my supervisor’s office. They will agree to anything to get you out of there.

@Mamapolo2016 Nyah, Nyah, Nyah.
Never cried (about work) at work, although I once carved bloody half-moons on my palms with my fingernails to avoid it.
I mostly liked and respected my supervisors although there were a few dramatic exceptions. Those relationships didn’t last long.
My definition of a great supervisor is,
1) Hire people you think can do the job.
2) Show them how you want it done.
3) Make sure they have the necessary tools.
4) Step back and let them do it.
5) When guidance or reprimand is required, do it in private.

@Mamapolo2016 Good simple guidelines....sorry you had that experience...that's not right.

Years back a friend was telling me something about himself along the lines "you think anyone notices a tear or two?" And then I began observing of how I could just let my tears out in public and people actually don't notice.
So I just cry wherever and I move ahead.

@being I learned that at a Walmart in Pittsburgh.
It was a Sunday evening. The Thursday before, my husband felt a little nauseous. On Friday, he felt dizzy. On Saturday, he barely moved out of his chair and on Sunday I bullied him into going to the ER. There an MRI revealed a large tumor, and we were on our way to Pittsburgh for emergency brain surgery for the tumor they’d found, scheduled first thing Monday morning.
I followed the ambulance and after he’d gotten settled in I asked what he needed and it was books and pajamas. I went to Walmart.
I had been coping pretty well until that moment but once inside the store, I was unable to cope anymore and for no specific reason, I lost it. I stood there, just beyond the registers at the front, sobbing heart-brokenly, tears flooding my face.
Not.one.person.stopped. They diverged around me like a river diverts around a boulder. Employees and customers alike. Zero contact.
I have thought about that in the past 17 years, and I do not believe I could have walked past. But they could and did. It still shocks me.
But I no longer concern myself about making a scene.

@Mamapolo2016 oh god I'm so sorry for this... Really sorry... It's because of Walmart I bet .. this is very difficult to happen in a province I'm almost certain. Mostly big cities things. So sorry.
But I can understand that part, where you hold it all together and you lose it one moment.
Through the years I have a variety of experiences.. recently actually after a bad argument with mum, I began crying and sat on some pedestal.. some women passed by and stopped and asked me what's going on and I told them how it's nothing and is just an argument with mum... But they stayed with me offering some funny words, they told me, mommies are like babies, you shouldn't treat them differently.. and other compassionate and funny stuff and they actually helped me to stand up and walk ahead...

@being Yes. Exactly. If they want me to go away, I’ll go. But I’ll stop.

today I cried 3 times in the hallway between the storage room and package drop off area (no cameras) and 2 times at my desk
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Don't believe I ever did so at work. Yet I did once lose it with than insurance company, with my father. And that did work. He got his last week with pain free.

I have very little control of my crying, so it just happens sometimes wherever I am standing haha.
It's really embarrassing. And it used to be an anxiety response (?) when being spoken to by someone I don't know well, or feel power imbalance with, even in normal conversation

Back in the day, I’d generally save it for the women’s room on another floor.
The one time I cried in public was when my manager at the time, who was also a friend outside of work, came and told me that a mutual friend had committed suicide.

@bijouxbroussard omg im so sorry 😪
bijouxbroussard · F
@AngelUnforgiven Thank you. It was someone very much loved, who refused to let us know she was struggling. 😞
Depends where I'm working...
But when I was in the big office, I would go to a different floor for anything out of character, including a big #2.
The small office, I haven't ever needed to cry, yet

I am lucky in that I WFH ..
So I can let the tears fall just about anywhere ..
Although really , you can't beat the shower , when it comes to unleashing the waterworks .
