Hold your hand over their mouth and say stop talking and to be nice say please.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@curiouslilone That’s battery….😂

NewRaven · 51-55, F
I would say something like “As much as I’d love to catch up, I really need to focus right now. Let’s plan lunch sometime soon to catch up.”
nedkelly · 61-69, M
In Australia we would say, shut the fuck up and have a day off once in a while
Nimbus · M
@nedkelly Same effect, shoter words ;)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@nedkelly 😂. I finally told a phone scammer that a couple weeks ago. And I’ve never said it to anyone else in my entire life. I guess I am fed up to my eyeballs in phone scammers from India named Joshua or Jacob.

Have you tried exiting yourself from the conversation in various ways. Also not commenting much when she talks will make you boring. If the soft approach doesn’t work you can kindly apologize and say I need to get some tasks done. If she’s even more clueless you can speak to HR. They are legally required to not disclose to her that she is disturbing you with your work and they will take measures to reduce or eliminate her contact with you… how they accomplish that is not your concern… they may move her away form your work area or they may terminate her if she doesn’t get the point… anyone that clueless should probably get some help anyways.
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
Give her a joint and qelude. That would relax the shit out her that She'll get fired and no longer your problem
Camelia · F
You know you have the right to remain silent, which means stfu.

Usally does the trick.
Ferric67 · M
I would get ear plugs and put them in my ear as they're talking to me
BEENOV · 51-55, M
OK, this is easy, when she is yacking about her garbage simply shake your head in the left to right "no" direction and have a very bored facial expression. Her subconscious should read this as a negative vibe and at least shorten the conversation initially and hopefully at some point leave you alone
AntisocialTroll · 56-60, F
Wear headphones or earbuds whilst at work, when she starts to speak to you adopt a pained expression as you take them off/out.

If she asks you why you are suddenly wearing headphones/earbuds explain your having issues concentrating, hopefully she'll take the hint without you needing to offend her.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
'Shut up, you talk too much'
I would just give her one of these
WhateverWorks · 36-40
I say something like, “hey, I’m so sorry to cut you off, but I’m terrible at multitasking. I I suck at getting two things done at once and really need to focus on getting this ABCD thing done”
The idea is I make it my short coming, not theirs.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Spell it out to her
Blondily · F
Too bad you can't do this...
"Jen, we're going to 'circle-back' to this at break time. You'll agree we work best, focused; and uninterrupted. See you at lunchtime."
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SethGreene531 Or simply tell her she’s chatting on your time & you need to focus on your job in other words.
@cherokeepatti
In other words, be tactless and direct, building a wall instead of a bridge.

That's your first inclination; but Niki's hesitant to hurt feelings and break partnerships.

Talkative "Jen" is bright enough to read between the lines, and a work relationship is preserved.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SethGreene531 the woman doesn’t get a hint
perceptivei · 36-40, F
I would tell her I have work to do, and it's hard to focus on what she's talking about when I'm working. Something along those lines... I'd try to be nice unless I was in a bad mood.
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
I would just say something like
I would LOVE to chat about this, but the work has deadlines and make sure you are making yours as well (if you are her supervisor)
Some people love coming to work just for the social aspects of it - COVID must have been really hard for them.
She probably has ADD and depression so she talks too much 😏
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SStarfish yea I've though ADD definitely.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
Play (You Talk Too Much) Run DMC song on a loop...oldie but a goodie.
'are you on meth"?

cause you dont STFU :)
SamInAZ · 41-45, M
🎶You Talk Too Much
Homeboy you never shut up🎶
I'd look her square in the eyes and tell her to shut the fuck up and leave me alone.
NewRaven · 51-55, F
