British people, are you registered to vote?

They are threatening me
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Oh it's laughable !

Yes they want you registered to vote but get this you can only vote if you have approved photo I:D with you at the time you go to vote !

It's estimated twenty million Brits. don't drive (so have no photo I:d license)
And the same number again have no passport !

Gone are the days of living in a free country

@Picklebobble2 not certain about that. Never had to question it because I still received the ballot the next time around. No receipt of ballot then you are no longer registered. Every time you move you must reregister as well before the cut off date.

Registration is often done at the same place you get ID. You're asked if you want to register to vote.

@DeWayfarer Yes but registering to vote isn't the same thing as knowing your vote has been counted. Or even acknowledged as having been received...
Might investigate how this works in the UK and whether or not you the voter can check
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 I never had to actually mail it in. I put in a drop box just for that purpose. It's only for voting ballots. And are right next to the voting place. Just drop it off.

You're not going to get any safer than that. Even at the voting booths it's not counted in any state there. They are transported. Normally to the county seat. Though in smaller states it's the largest city.

@DeWayfarer Ok. From what I can make out, in the UK every postal voting form has a registration number.
If you make note of the number it corresponds to a barcode that is added once your form has been ok'd as having been filled in correctly and put forward as 'countable'.
Thus theoretically it should be possible to trace your vote once it's been received and processed by the Electoral Commission.

Their website says approximately 500 people every election ask for their vote to be traced from postal delivery to ballot box counting.

Lot of people suspicious about how it works 😆

If you wish to vote in UK elections you have to be on the Electoral Register 🙂

Yes. I'm registered for a postal vote.
Those politicians make decisions on things that really fucking matter to me.
But look, vote or don't vote. The choice is yours.
However, it's a legal requirement to be on the electoral register - even if you choose not to do anything with it.

Yes but i refuse to take my identity. So i wont vote.
The Govt should act to avoid the posibility of people cheating the system.
End postal voting, its ridiculous. You get a card with your name on.
Use that and then you have to leave it.
Absolutely. If we aren't encouraging change then we are part of the problem.

@JosephineFox I'm sorry, that's the sort of cheap platitude a politician might say
