I hate how my job affects my life

And I can't wait to be able to quit.
I'll have a job interview on Thursday and I really really hope that I will get that job because I don't know how much longer I can last at my current job.. I mean today is my day-off and I can't even enjoy it because I feel so anxious. Tomorrow I will be working with my manager and I'm so afraid that she will lecture me again about every single godsdamn thing I apparently do wrong. I've never had such a toxic, manipulative person as my manager before..
Hey,

I understand what u mean..

Some work environments can be bad and reading what u typed in some of the comments and in ur question. It sounds not good for you e.g. how it is making you feel. Yes you are new but there is no need to treat someone that way and new people need to learn the job that they choose to work. (Did you really want to work there?)

Is there someone higher hat you can talk to about what is happening and how it is making you feel as this is not good to work for ur health and best to get away from that or try to sort it out first..do maybe another manager might help you.

What do ur coworkers say about that manager? Is she not good at her job?

Anyways I hope you get this other job and that it is much much better than the one you currently have.

@PrincessRoarBuddy I actually really wanted this job. And I've talk to my coworkers about this issue and asked for their opinion, all of them said the same thing: they do not think she is good at being a manager but all the complaints given to the higher ups go to deaf ears, apparently they do not give a fuck how we're doing which is why I've started to look for a new job.

And thank you, I'm sure I'll find a better job, it just takes a little bit time and effort.

Good luck and God bless.

ha... I'm in the same boat. This "manager" is only here because he's friends with another boss, and even that boss jokes about this guys ego. If he actually had the competence to back it up, that might excuse it, but he's also a moron with a string of employee resignations and failed projects
MessedUpBird · 26-30, F
@plungesponge sounds frustrating, good luck with them

Micro mangers are a pain

🤔..................Wishing you the best on your job interview!!!!
I know exactly how you feel. Just like my boss!!!! She is the owner and CEO of a small company of 15 -45 people. She is a control freak. She micro manages everything in the entire company. She knows everything about anything. You have to get her approval on any projects or tasks you do. It's a toxic work environment. You have to be on call every day of the year. She will email you at any time of the day or night and if you don't replay she will interrogate you to why you didn't reply to her email on the weekend or your time off. I can go on, but i need to get ready to go to my shitty job...........

@Jimmy2016 sounds exhausting! Good luck, I hope you'll find a better job too✨️🤞

@Jimmy2016 You need to leave and find a better job.
They’re probably threatened by your performance…. And it’s a good indication that you’re good at your job.

Having horrible managers is a norm no matter which industry you work in or how high up the ladder you climb. 😕
akindheart · 61-69, F
i do understand. i love my job. i make great money and they leave me alone but i got so tired of what I do, i can't wait to retire at year end...take a deep breath, think positively you will get it.
Olderguy · 61-69, M
How do you learn if not told when you are wrong?
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
@Olderguy Well it sounds like her boss tells her what she does wrong on everything because her boss is a micro manager and only her boss knows how do do it right.
Om2014 · 31-35, M
@Olderguy yea like Jimmy said it's about micromanagement.. plus some people are manipulative if ur employee is already effective then u need to control them all the time, give them free space n mind to work.. some times letting go helps more than trying to educate.. but that's to be judged from person to person, no one likes to be controlled
MessedUpBird · 26-30, F
@Olderguy Does this sound like constructive criticism or something a good manager would do: For the first few months she kept telling me that I'm doing great. But now apparently I don't smile or say hi to our customers anymore which I can assure you is NOT true but at first I tried to hear her side of the story and do better; smile even wider and make sure that every single customer was treated well on my watch. But no. Nothing I've done so far has been good enough. And things that my co-workers have done wrong or in a way she doesn't agree on are suddenly all my fault because apparently I should be the one telling my co-workers, who by the way have been working there for YEARS that they shouldn't do things the way they've done them for all these years. Others have told me that our manager is quite new and doesn't really get along with anyone who dares to disagree with her. I think the fact that I am getting along with the others is pissing her off even more and now she is putting all her frustration on me because I'm new and don't have guts to talk back.
I've outlasted every poor manager I've ever had in over 35 yrs in my field .. but it was close a time or two. It sucks, but hang in there.

don't know if your part of the world has a labor shortage - hope so - and hope she has a hard time replacing you :)
pdockal · 56-60, M
So your NOT supposed to be lectured about doing things wrong
Hope you get the new job!!

Do you think a new place is not going to tell you how to do things?

Me too it feels like your brain has been removed and put back in sideways. 🧠
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
How about u tell her off if she does that
MessedUpBird · 26-30, F
@smileylovesgaming I probably should. But I'm still on a trial period so I'm afraid that she will fire me for telling her my honest thoughts and I can't afford to lose my job.
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
🤔.......How did your job interview go???
Zonuss · 46-50, M
Your opportunity will come.
Good luck.
