I feel you! You’re smart to say no, take care of yourself too. 🤗

Regroup! As a nurse, you know whats best! 😊
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
@Oster1 it IS so hard to say no though, because then you know they’re short staffed and someone suffers. ☹️

Sometimes you need to take your days off to recuperate from work. If you’re able to go to work every day great, but you still need time off. Your manager knows you’re a hard worker appreciates having you or they wouldn’t be asking to have you on your day off. Why you feel guilty though is another matter. I hate turning down work myself on my days off, but sometimes I just want to go fishing. I’d go tomorrow if my truck was working.

@MrAboo thank you for saying this
I do work very hard, and I take a lot of pride in my work. I think this is also a contributor to why I feel so much guilt. my company places a lot of expectations on me, because I am one of the “main people” they utilize because I am very skilled in all areas where some of my coworkers have specializations
I love going outside I went for a nice stroll down the park and went and saw the lake today
Sometimes these things are very therapeutic for our overworked brains

@DeluxedEdition Aim to take more strolls for your peace of mind.

It’s ok to say no. It’s important to listen when your body/mind are screaming for a break
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@WaryWitchWandering yes this is the message I genuinely needed to hear
My mind needs a break it’s not even a physical thing at this point

@DeluxedEdition let go of the guilt ❤️
Rose0415 · 36-40, F
I know just how that feels 😕. The past couple years of my job as a nurse have been totally insane.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Rose0415 they work us to death and then have the audacity to cut our pay😪
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
Don’t ever feel guilty about taking care of you

@DeluxedEdition do me a favor ok?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@JesseInTX sure 🙂
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@DeluxedEdition don’t ever forget that. You are #1. Family, friends, job etc. you can organize their place from #2 down the line. None of those can be taken care of though if you don’t take care of #1 🤗

That's a super common conception. I'm not sure right or wrong even apply to the situation. You're not much use to anyone if you're burnt out. I overwork a lot myself. I wish I had a better comment to make but I wanted to let you know that you're not alone in feeling you did something wrong by declining work, or that you could be doing more fulfilling work. It's rough out here.
scabs · 51-55, T
Probably because some places guilt trip you for not coming in on your day off. Everyone deserves rest but some people think if yiu don't bleed and die for your company there's something wrong with you
Wyocowboy · M
Sometimes you need a me day, dont feel guilty.
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@Wyocowboy when I worked at my old job sometimes when I would get burnt out like this I would take two weeks off sometimes even a month
I don’t really get that same kind of freedom with this job that I have now. I really think it would be in my best interest to get another job so that I can takeoff more time for myself like this when I need it
I get so burnt out I have kids, one is autistic on top of being a FT caretaker. I spread myself too thin sometimes

@DeluxedEdition Please do what is best for you, your kids and your mental health. ❤️

It’s best to take care of yourself instead of overextending yourself
popmol · 26-30, M
are you american or asian?
DeluxedEdition · 26-30, F
@popmol I swear I don’t understand why I put these unrealistic expectations on myself
popmol · 26-30, M
@DeluxedEdition well in american and asian culture its work work work, no break. its cultured in.
in some jobs specifically too!
just think about it logically: more rest, means more peace of mind and health, making more quality works!

I can relate with my job. But im terrifed of going 😭
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
It's your work ethic; you feel you should work when someone offers. But you need rest too.
littlepuppywantanewlife · 31-35, M
I feel the same. I feel like I need a vacation or maybe a new job.
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
You can and work in my office if you want too😏
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
It’s okay to say no but in healthcare they make you feel like it’s not okay but it is.
