A coworker of mine (K) noticed another coworker (S) filming me as I walked away. S had the phone in their lap and raised it up, zoomed in and followed my motion walking. We both felt uncomfortable once he told me. (K) and I took it to upper management as a concern but the issue is (S) is the spouse of my manager. So I had to sit there and explain what I saw in front of them. Our assistant GM reviewed the video footage and decided it needed to go up and the GM and VP viewed the footage. They said they hadn’t found any pictures or videos on the phone but that it was enough of a concern viewing the footage. The spouse started yelling at (S) and I can’t help but feel like I will be retaliated against even though I know it’s inappropriate. (S) has also made everyone else on the shift uncomfortable at one time or another by their actions and or words. Was I wrong to report?

No not wrong to report - there should never be any judgement made against a person who reports something about feeling unsafe at work, regardless of the personal connections between the involved parties.

If you feel your privacy and/or safety are being violated you have every right to both report what you think has happened and be treated fairly.

If you do not get treated fairly you should look for a job somewhere else.

and if there is a hint of retaliation have an attorney write them a letter advising that they will be liable if they pursue any retaliation - and that they are responsible for any sexual harrassment that their employees perform.

and look for a transfer or a new job - oh and the attorney letter should also indicate that any derogatory comments made on an employment reference check that is NOT already documented in a performance review will also be a cause for legal action.

You were right to report the incident. The co worker who recorded you should face disciplinary action.

Well done. Document any retribution. Retribution is almost always what gets harassers fired in the end.

You could have just warned him .. it was not some upskirt or hidden cam in private area..
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
Why would you be wrong? You are 100% justified to report bad behavior like that..
HotDamnSam · 31-35
@Moneyonmymind I feel like maybe I jumped the gun and made a situation out of something small since they supposedly searched the phone and found nothing but I don’t know how much I truly believe that. He also could have easily erased it after posting it somewhere as well.

Caught red handed.

@Sidewinder white

Why would anyone do that in a workplace? Especially in such an incestuous situation?
HotDamnSam · 31-35
@RedBaron that’s my question. It was very weird.
