I started the Internet on Usenet in the 1990s. Nothing on this site can affect me. 🤣
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@DeWayfarer You know though, there are a few people that this is their first social media site.
SW is nowhere near as bad as it gets, but a little much for a beginner.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SunSetStrut You have no idea, what Usenet was like back then or even now, by that statement. "Site" is not the appropriate word even now.

Usenet was the darkweb of its day. And is no longer what it was then.

You see today's browsers are not capable of accessing the whole nntp:// protocol. They could back then. Today you would need a separate program/app as well as a separate server.

Not even a tor browser can access the NNTP protocol. Oh both could through website. Yet that would be quite limited and likely heavily censored. Defeating the whole purpose.

Today's Internet is totally in the "bright lights". Where secrets are not such a thing. At minimum an AI knows about what was said or shown, even if no one else saw it.

PS
I timbered his shivers myself.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@GoldnJulz It will be a legend shared for generations to come!

Grandpas at Family gatherings everywhere - "Did I tell you about the time that Julz shivered his timbers?"
"Only about 100 times now..."
GoldnJulz · 46-50, F
@SunSetStrut You make me smile and laugh so hard in the middle of the night, that anyone hearing me will probably have me committed!!
And yes for generations to come the timber shivering legend will be told and remembered by millions… of course it’s true !!
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@GoldnJulz I am glad I can bring some laughter. 🙂
WillaKissing · 61-69, M
If you are going to steel his material, just remember @CaptainBard may sue you for plagiarism or make you walk the plank off of his ship!
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@WillaKissing Yeah I did have some concern over that. 😄
mah timbers shivered.. do that count..
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Why yes it does! 😃
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Not in the last week or so.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@ChipmunkErnie Well, it has been over a week, any updates? 😄
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@SunSetStrut Nope, not a flabber in sight since the temps at night dropped to the 40ºs.
GoldnJulz · 46-50, F
Nope my flabbers are completely ungastable ☹
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Tom Skerritt death.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@DancingStarGoddess But does it sm4ck your gob? Then you could say you have been gobsmacked.
@SunSetStrut Gob fully smacked indeed ^-^
Mellomarsha · 61-69, F
This doesn't discombobulate me because I've never been bobulated.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@Mellomarsha Discombobulate sounds like a bizarre surgery method.
"Well doctor, we might have to discombobulate his gall bladder through his rectal opening."
i think i only have gasted's to be flabbered.
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@Neuman You mean you have only flabbers to be gasted.
@SunSetStrut i must be on the opposite side. or perhaps this is like thevclassic reeses problem
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@Neuman Could be, either way it works. 😄
