Ive known a few people on birth control because of issues with really bad irregular periods.
Even the Roman Catholic church made exceptions to the no birth control rule for those sort of medical reasons.

@Arnoldjrmmer They teach you that your period lasts between 4 and 7 days and to see your doctor if you have an abnormal period... but they don't tell you what to do if the doctor isn't concerned about your three weeks long period that won't stop.
I can understand why girls opt for birth control in the hope that it stops their periods.
