I can fully follow you on this one, call it creeper, sexist, misogynist... using the word 'girl' is very much about context, who's using it and how it's used... Often when some random Joe or Jane will be using it to create an unbalance in the power structure between the one they call 'girl' and themselves as being the "adult", the better knowing etc. There's simply no reason to use the word in ordinary speaking or discussion/arguing. It would take some kind of intimacy for me to not take it differently.
@Miram if i ever call someone a girl its just because i'm not think about it and i saw it as a term for a woman but i can see why others might find it weird! xD
for me its like in pokemon when the proffesor asks xD
@InOtterWords Yes and rightfully so. They were riddled with creepers who prey on the vulnerable. The history we all experienced in this place is big reason why I am careful not to take it people's wordings lightly.
From people I don't know, it makes instantly guard myself and prepare to kick ass.
When not creepy hinting at questionable approach towards attraction, it does feel manipulative wording a discourse where they get an upper advantage, or simply feed their ego at my expense without me agreeing to it.
I am fine with it if it came from someone I am close to.
I am a woman, regardless of how "young" they think I look. And I want to be treated as a woman.
@Miram I completely agree with all of that. When someone that you don’t know calls you that especially a man, you question what their motives and meaning behind “girl” is.
