Union construction workers do a whole lot of standing around.

As one guy sits on a wooden box tapping on a cinder block with a hammer, four other guys stand around him and watch. This goes on for about 20 minutes. Then they walk back over to their truck and point at things while talking and sipping water. Then they all walk up and back taking turns pointing at stuff and more talking. An hour has gone by and now they’re back to tapping on the cinder block.

And they make about 5 times an hour more than you do..........plus benefits. Instead of making fun of them.........if you had half a brain you'd join them.

@anythingoes477 No, thank you. I wouldn’t want to work outside in this heat. I’ll just sit inside my air conditioned home as I complain about the fact that I can’t drive down my street because they have it blocked off at both ends and all that noise their trucks make are giving me a headache.
@Faroutcat And that my friend............is the difference between the have and the have nots. The heat.......a few days a year...........is a deterrent to making $75,000 a year to $100,000.....with benefits. And that's not guesswork...........I was union for years. That's how I saved the money to open my own businesses...so I can sit in the A/C and bank 7 figures a year.

@anythingoes477 it's not alway easy to join a union, sometimes it's who you know not just your skill set..
@atlantic59 Maybe in 1960 but in this climate of everyone wanting help? Not so. All local unions are hiring around here. Infrastructure money has created a ton of union jobs.
