I have a smoothie for lunch and then dinner. Nothing else. No snacks in between

I've been doing this every day for about 8 months. I'm still overweight for my height. I think this weight is stuck on me for life. I never would have gained it to begin with if I knew I'd never be able to lose it.

I really don’t have much room to give advice on this due to history of eating disorders but…

If you restrict yourself you’ll either end up binging or your body will panic and hold onto the weight

I’m also vegan so I don’t eat this stuff BUT from many friends on weight loss journeys I’ve heard the following helps a lot

Breakfast: eggs with veggies, whole wheat or sourdough toast, coffee with 1-2 tbsp heavy cream and 1 tbsp sugar free coffee syrup

Lunch: ground beef or chicken, roasted sweet potato and cottage cheese seasoned however

Dinner: lean chicken breast grilled or baked salmon and lower carb veggies and cottage cheese

Again I don’t have personal experience with these foods but from friends on weight loss plans they said this helped
@MommaBear Thank you

@MsSwan of course 🤗 also any underlying conditions can play a huge part even if they aren’t diagnosed (like pcos, autoimmune disorders, even vitamin deficiencies or blood sugar)
@MommaBear I should really go back to the doctor and get my blood checked.

Have you tried incorporating sone intermittent fasting of more than 8 hrs. Thats water or ice only for 8 or more hours , daily if you can. That causes your metabolusm to speed up. The longer you fast, the faster your metabolism gets. ..also breaking the fast with a garlic tea also speeds up your metabolism.

Ice chips are good to chew because they give you that crunching and chewing sensation while the body has to burn more calories to maintain your body temperature.
@Jayciedubb I lost weight initially, but now I'm stuck. I just don't understand how I could eat so little and not lose any more.

@MsSwan idk. ..i remember something about a body weight set point from a nutrition class i took in college, but i don't remember the particulars. I think there are Plateau levels you have to reach or something like that
@Jayciedubb Thanks, I'll look it up.

Cutting carbs helped me.
MarineBob · 61-69, M
Did you know that they now make spiked smoothies
@MarineBob Spiked with alcohol?

I understand all too well
I think the scale for height is outdated. For my height i am overweight too.
@MsSwan that's what I'm doing now. Walking. Id like to lose 10 more pounds.
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
@MsSwan Walking in combination with eating better made the difference for me to get started and sustain weight loss. Walking in the early a.m. or late p.m., inside at malls, etc can help to keep going despite summer heat.

Stick with it, you'll get there. 👍
@BrandNewMan Thanks

I have been fighting that battle myself. Put on most of mine through stress eating and now it’s a difficult pattern to break.

Fat free/ low fat milk often has Sugar added
@myotherlife I'll have to check the label.

I had diabetes type two for 8 years and started taking straight Psyllium fiber, the stuff they put in Metamucil. My blood sugar is half now from 160 to 80 normally. I have been learning a lot on how triglycerides and LDLs are developed in the Liver. It is incredible how building the walls of your intestines with fiber really contain a lot of that stuff as well as sleep and respecting your circadian rhythms. Don’t give up. There is too much information out there to make the difference!
@Pfuzylogic Thank you
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@Pfuzylogic I drink that every day too.
What all you add to smoothie
@Royricky09 Fat-free milk, sugar and fat free yogurt, blueberries, and spinach.
@MsSwan remove sugar and yogurt.

Milk + yogurt should never be combined.

It's better to prepare curd at home with regular milk.
@MsSwan I honestly don't believe in all these fancy smoothies etc....
They do more harm than good...

I reduced 10kg in last 3 months with absolutely no changes in my diet.

Atleast 14 or more hours of gap between dinner and next meal
Brisk walk atleast 10k steps
18 - 24 hours fasting atleast once in a week
Only home-cooked food.
No alcohol - I anyway never drink
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
The truth is, I don't think its healthy or possible to get back to your 25 year old weight.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@JimboSaturn let me add "OUR" 25 year old weight.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
@MsSwan Doesn't matter, we are still hot :P
@JimboSaturn Yes, we are.

ah well some guys like fat ladies.. not that you are one.. just saying.. sigh .. i was trying to lose weight but gained three pounds instead .. then again i just did eat half a cream cheese strawberry loaf pastry lol

maybe try the only meat diet instead cause those smoothies might be loaded in sugar even if it is natural sugar
Degbeme · 70-79, M
As you know it goes on a lot faster than it comes off. You`ll get there I`m sure.
@Degbeme I hope so. I'm not going to give up. This is how I'm going to eat for the rest of my life.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@MsSwan As long as you`re getting nourishment, that`s all that matters.
@Degbeme I am.
ShenaniganFoodie · 41-45, M
